So the wife (sorry, no pics) and I are taking our first trip to Utah with our boards, and we are flying US Airways. Anyone have any experience recently with their baggage policy for boards? Their website description is kind of jibberish, and not really clear on whats allowed or if boot bags are required.
I have a Dakine Low Roller bag and my plan was to put my board (without bindings) on the bottom and my wifes board on top with her bindings on and put my bindings where they will fit. Only her boots will fit in the boot pockets of the Dakine, so I was going to put mine in our other checked bag. Wrap the ends of the boards with our jackets and try to fit some other gear in there (beanies, facemasks, pants, etc.). Will they ding us if other clothes are in there? Ive read some airlines do, but US Ariways doesnt really say if they do or not. Any help would be appreciated. We are going to Brian Head Resort, and flying out of Baltimore, MD to Vegas if that makes a difference. Last edited by Flaus; 01-17-2013 at 03:00 PM. |

I have traveled alot with my board but i cant recall us airways in particular.
Either way just wanna say that i doubt most airline care what you put in your board bag. having two boards or two boards+clothes+etc etc really dont make any difference as long as it does not exceed the weight limit. I always pack my clothes into my board bag so i dont need a second checked bag. |

I flew with my board on US Airways two years ago and it went smoothly. I had all my gear in the bag, and they didn't say anything. Only issue I had was that my board bag never came out at the oversized luggage area or on the belt. I had to go the office and have them check in the back, but they found it pretty quick.
