Here we go...?
After a few days of rain and 45 degree weather the past two weeks and just a few dustings in between, it looks like we might finally be seeing some real accumulation soon! There are two storm cells that NOAA is tracking right now, one for the midwest-New England and another in the PNW and Rockies that might also continue eastward.
Out here in VT we're hearing that it could develop into a nice storm, then be followed up with one this weekend that could drop as much as 8-12" friday through sunday. Start doing your snow dances! :yahoo: We seriously need it.
From NOAA - MW - NE:
AN ALBERTA CLIPPER OVER THE UPPER MIDWEST WILL RACE EASTWARD
ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES TO THE CANADIAN MARITIMES BY WEDNESDAY
EVENING. THE ASSOCIATED FRONT WILL MOVE SOUTHEASTWARD FROM THE
UPPER MIDWEST TO SOUTHEAST COAST BY WEDNESDAY. THE STORM WILL
PRODUCE LIGHT SNOW OVER THE UPPER GREAT LAKES THAT WILL MOVE
EASTWARD TO NEW ENGLAND BY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
ANOTHER FRONT WITH SEVERAL WAVES ON THE BOUNDARY EXTENDS FROM THE NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC COAST SOUTHWESTWARD TO NORTHEASTERN TEXAS. THE EASTERN PART OF THE FRONT WILL LINKUP WITH THE CLIPPER SYSTEM MOVING ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE WESTERN PART OF THE BOUNDARY WILL SETTLE SOUTHEASTWARD TO THE EASTERN GULF COAST AND DISSIPATE BY LATE TUESDAY NIGHT. THE SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE LIGHT SNOW OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS AND SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND ON TUESDAY MORNING. THE WESTERN END OF THE BOUNDARY WILL BE A CATALYST FOR LIGHT RAIN AND SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CENTRAL GULF COAST MOVING INTO THE EASTERN GULF COAST BY WEDNESDAY MORNING.
Looks like you all out in the PNW/Rockies could be getting some freshies soon too!
From NOAA - PNW/Rockies:
A FRONT FROM THE PACIFIC WILL MOVE ONSHORE OVER THE
NORTHWEST THAT WILL ADVANCE EASTWARD TO THE CENTRAL PLAINS BY
WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE COASTAL RAIN ON
TUESDAY OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND SNOW OVER THE NORTHERN
ROCKIES BY TUESDAY EVENING. SNOW WILL ALSO DEVELOP OVER PARTS OF THE NORTHERN INTERMOUNTAIN REGION AND THE NORTHERN ROCKIES. IN ADDITION ... ANOTHER FRONT WILL APPROACH THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WEDNESDAY EVENING TRIGGERING MORE COASTAL RAIN AND HIGHER ELEVATION SNOW.

Today's noon GFS snowfall output prediction was an intense accumulation gain from the previous runs. The euro model is slipping a little bit though.
Be careful driving if you're headed up to the NY/NH/VT area Friday night...
Just heard about this today. So f'n pumped right now. Only predicting 7" at local resorts in NH but 7" will be HUGE compared to the shit we've been riding.
I rode Stowe today - they go about 2-3" while I was there. It was snowing hard so I wouldn't be surprised it its more by now. Forecasts are now updated and saying another few inches tonight, then Thurs night, Fri and Fri night we could get up to a foot! This could finally be that first epic weekend of 2013. And if so, I'll be slashing all weekend :yahoo:
