I'm driving from MN down to Breck this weekend and it looks like there will be a lot of snow coming on Saturday. Do you have any tips for driving I-70 and 9 from Denver to Breck if it's all snowy? I've been driving in winter/snow conditions my whole life so I can handle that, but I've never driven in the mountains before. Any suggestions are appreciated. I don't want to miss out on Sunday morning powder!

Leave early as fuck. If you're not leaving Denver by 6am you'll be lucky to be getting to Breck by lunch time.

Hahaha! You guys are awful. There is some truth to it though on a Saturday morning. Get your ass out of bed and get going early if you want a full day. If you are not passing the Morrison Exit on I70 before 6:30 you could be in for a ton of slow and go. Otherwise wait until after 9:30 to head up for a half day and hope there isn't some wreck that has things balled up. You can expect traffic headed back on I70 Saturday night but it's generally not a huge delay. Usually 15-30 minutes extra on your drive. Sunday night is a whole different story. If you don't bail by one that drive will probably be around 3 hours from Breck maybe longer. Unless you wait around until after seven to head back. We really need to get the Winter Olympics.

Don't fly off the road. Driving in snow here is like anywhere. Just some steeper grades than MN. Since your not worried about Saturday riding your fine with regards to traffic..... Just take it easy and don't rush it. The only bad thing is this will probably be wet snow and it ices up faster.... There were a couple of huge pile ups last week on 70 in frisco/dillon but you could have still made it to breck ok...... Vail pass is the one that closes more frequently
