Vail - Ditching my car
 
I am gonna crash with some friends at Vail for a few days, but have one problem - the place I'm staying won't have parking for me. Is there any place in the area I can ditch my car for a few days that is cheaper than paying $25 / day to park in the garage?

You could leave your car at the Spraddle Creek trail head above Mid Vail on the North side of the highway.

They will boot if its there for an extended time and tow if it is there longer. How many days are you talking about and what dates?

I plan on coming down this Thursday and staying through Sunday or possibly Monday this week. I know parking is kinda ridiculous at Vail, but was hoping there might be something like killclimbz mentioned. At Keystone I've left my car on Montezuma and car camped several times, I was hoping there would be something similar.

If it was next weekend I would let you park in one of our spots since we are out of town, we are here this weekend though. I would park in the parking structure and go move it to a new spot every day. When you leave on the last day just say you lost your ticket. $25. If I can swing another spot here I will let you know.

Yeah that sounds like an awesome plan, thanks! I don't mind putting down 25 for the whole weekend.
Any sweet spots I should hit in Vail? I've only been there twice and don't really know my way around. Went there Sunday and we spent most the day on Blue Sky Basin, and hit some awesome deep stuff on the hikeout right before you go through the east Vail backcountry gate.

Trees are people's weakness. Always deep spots in the trees and along the outer. Boundaries as people don't like hiking either.

You could always park at the walmart in avon and have your buddy pick you up. Think its 24 hours.

I've done this exact same thing before for 3 days with no problems.

Lucky for me, I love trees and hikes. Looks like a decent amount of snow is coming, so it should be an awesome weekend.

I think I'm gonna stick with the garage as opposed to Wal-Mart. Probably very low risk to park at Wal-Mart, but I'm 100% sure I won't get towed at the garage (and it's only $25 for the whole weeekend). Thanks for the help!
