With the recent snows in California, I guess it's not a surprise, but it's also very sad. RIP Aline.
A 19-year-old Santa Barbara woman died of what officials believe was suffocation after she fell into a tree well while snowboarding at Dodge Ridge Monday.
The woman, identified as Aline Christina Martins, was snowboarding with her brother when they became separated, said Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Paul Tualla.
The woman’s brother looked for her, then reported her missing about 4:40 p.m.
A search party made of the resort’s ski patrol found her in the tree well about 5:30 p.m. and began CPR, said Sally Helm, who owns the ski and snowboard resort with her husband, Frank Helm.
It's always sad to hear about accidents like that. A wicked powder day ends your life suddenly with a minor fall into a tree.
I'm forwarding the link to my snowboard buddies so they actually listen to me when I tell them to stay close by when in the trees.
