Default Winter Park - Worth getting season pass?

Long story short, I get to spend a week in Winter Park for free pretty soon. Woohoo! For the amount of time I'll be there, it'll be cheaper to get a season pass than individual lift tickets. I'm new to CO so forgive the dumb question... is Winter Park good for snowboarders and worth getting a season pass? I've read lots of glowing reviews of the place, but it seems like everyone talks about good skiing and bumps. If it makes any difference, I'm an intermediate rider and my wife is a beginner. I live near Denver so I'd be able to get there pretty easily for the rest of the season too.

If lodging is free for a week........why would you not? Berthoud Pass is a PITA when it's storming. WP is plenty good for an intermediate and beginner. Once you figure out the "lay of the land", you can avoid or haul ass on the flat ass cattracks. Most of the bumps are on the Mary Jane side of the hill.

the terrain at Mary Jane would be pretty fun if not for all the ^&*%$ moguls. Winter Park/Mary Jane prides itself on their moguls.

The rest of the mountain is OK. On the front side, Hughes is a good fast cruising run, but it's frequently blocked-off for ski racers. The Olympia area gets old. YMMV

Not to mention a little bit of wind and they shut down several lifts.

It's not for everyone but I like it.

Great trees and if you know where to look you can find powders stashes many days after it last snowed. You avoid the tunnel and minimize your time on I-70. It's close to Denver but lot less crowded than Breck and Keystone.

There are flat spots. You learn to avoid them or carry your speed through the ones you cant get around.

I agree. I spent 9 days there last year and it took a while to figure out where not to stop. First day I was spent from all the skating. Trees were great in Eagle Wind area I thought.

I bought the Rocky Mountain Super Pass last year, so I could go to Copper too. Not sure how much that pass is compared to just WP season pass now.

"Great trees" = I'm sold! Guess I'll give the WP season pass a shot. Thanks for the replies.
