Trying to figure out some logistics for a possible mid-March trip to PM/SB and am looking for some info and recommendations.
We would arrive on a Saturday and leave on following Wednesday, boarding Sunday - Tuesday.
How would you spend your time between the two resorts and which would be better for the weekend day?
Also for lodging and travel planning would staying in Eden require or likely need a vehicle with chains or AWD. Trying to stay within budget but the idea of renting a condo in Eden vs a hotel in Ogden and saving time in the morning is nice.
Liftopia seems to have good prices for lift tickets. Anyplace else I should be looking?
We've been to Snowbird/Brighton/Solitude on two previous trips and are looking possibly for something new although a trip back to those resorts would be fun too. Anything to escape the lack of snow here in Washington state.
I just got back from Snow Basin on the red eye. They had a bit of fresh, which was actually quite nice where it accumulated. Overall coverage, however, was terrible. So many lines, so little snow. We still had a really fun day, but it is not what one is hoping for with a trip to Utah.
We talked with some guys who were at PM the day before and they said the conditions that day were great. Again, the current coverage there is epically bad and they said the Powder Country area was not even open.
As for vehicles, if you stay in Eden I can't imagine much trouble with any front wheel drive car. I suppose the question is whether it dumps snow or not. My recollection of the road to PM is that it is not bad. The road to Snow Basin would certainly not be bad.
We used Liftopia for the SB ticket and it was reasonable. I don't know how many of you are going, but check out Airbnb for lodging. We stayed in Ogden but there were some cheap small places in Eden we noticed.
Here is a picture of the runout from the southern edge of Snow Basin off the Strawberry gondola. (This is the worst of the coverage, but you get the idea.)
Thanks for the pic's and reply. We are leaning towards bagging out on the expense and seeing if anything materializes within driving distance in March, probably either Bachelor down south or Revelstoke up in BC.
We looked at Wolf Creek in Colorado but the expense seemed excessive for 3 days on the slopes with the possibility of getting shut out if the roads closed.

Just wondering, do you know if the road to wolf creek closes often coming from southfork as well as pagosa springs? i was under the impression that between pagosa and the ski area closed more often.
Sounds like an awesome place, we've decided to stay local and hope for snow. Expense seemed to great for 3 days on the slopes. Maybe a future trip when we have more time.
We got 2 feet at both resorts last Monday and Tuesday March 3, both resorts were awesome. I was at snowbasin on Wednesday.it wad getting tracked out fast.i went to powder mtn. Thursday, since they have a 15$ weekday pad oder if you have aseason pad elsewhere in Utah. It was not tracked out.powder country was closed due to snow conditions in the back country. not sure if it still is. all gates at basin were closed early Wednesday in past due to an out of boundary accident. I would avoid the last chance run out on the southern edge at basin as was previously mentioned. The conditions there were actually great after the storm but we're getting worse by the end of Wednesday. At least you didn't have to hike out like the previous day. The rest of mountain should be good. I will be at snowbasin tomorrow.i expect good conditions higher up and return to spring lower
