A Few Final CO. trip questions,..

Ok,.. My trip is just 3 weeks away. I have a few questions about some minor details before I finalize everything.

I am staying @ The Best Western in Dillon. I decided to use one of the shuttle services from the airport to get to Dillon and I will be renting a car there. Turns out that's cheaper than renting the car at the airport. Plus, I wont have the stress or bother of a 2-3 hour, unfamiliar drive up after the flight! I'll just let Enterprise pick me up @ the hotel! .

Any recomendations on which shuttle service to use? (Or which ones to absolutely avoid?) Their prices are all fairly similar, but some appear to have extra charges for x number of bags, etc!

Btw, I can get a pretty good deal on renting a Jeep Renegade for the 5 days. Only about $75-$80 more than a compact fotr the same period. Think it's worth the extra $ to go that route? I plan to ride a couple days each at Copper & Breck. Neither looks to be very far from the hotel. (...I also plan a little exploring in Breck, since there's no night riding to be done!) I've driven 2WD's in snow since I'm 16, but I've read so many horror stories here about the traffic shit shows you see when it snows,...

Next,.. Naturally, I am planning on bringing my 157 Proto CT. I am also considering bringing my 163W Arbor Roundhouse rather than the 159 Rome GR. Being a wide, It's too much work for just riding the groomers, but I thought if I luck out & get a big POW dump, it would be perfect! Anyone have any thoughts on that, Pro or Con? Or will hauling 2 boards just be a waste of effort & space?

Lastly,... I know I'll only be there a short time, and since it's during the week, I know that my opportunities to meet & ride with any of you local guys is a bit iffy! But,.. If anyone can or is willing to meet up & go a few laps with me? I would certainly enjoy a chance to meet up with some of you folks! (...Also, I am not expecting anyone to hang around with me if I can't keep up either because of my lack of skills or conditioning! If I prove I can't hang? Bail!! No hard feelings whatsoever!)

So,.. If anyone's interested in maybe hooking up either @ Copper or Breck. Shoot me a pm & we'll trade info! (If I know ahead of time who's available, where & when? It's easier to pick the days on my advance purchase lift tickets.) Otherwise, I'll just play it by ear!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to this!!

I'm trying to figure out a day midweek to do Copper so I can make fun of you to yo face. Don't know what you're doing for tix to Copper.....but I could mail you some Shell BOGO vouchers. As far as 4x4.....if it dumps....you might want it? My vote is fer 2 boards. On second thought.....with your experience driving.......not driving from Denver.....prob don't need the 4x4. Save the money for beer and lap dances.

Keystone has night riding, since you mentioned that. Look for online discounts on Copper tickets, can be found for much less than if you buy them at the resort. I ride breck pretty mech every friday, would be down for a lap or 2

Chomps,

I might be able to swing a day at Copper if I know your dates.
Thursdays and Fridays probably not, but the other days of the week might work with enough advanced notice.... or if I win the lottery between now and then.

You might call that BW in Dillion and find out how close you are to bus routes or if they have a shuttle to any resorts. I remember walking from the Holiday Inn to the bus stop and going right to Keystone. That was a few years back, though. You might not even need to rent a car, unless you really want to. That saves a lot of cash. Also, Breck has a ton of catwalks. Keep your speed up or you'll be walking or hopping. I like Copper and Winter Park more unless you're a park rat. The Keystone night riding is sweet. Put that on your list. A cheaper option, especially if you have a car, is Loveland Basin. Take the 2 chair to chair 6, work through those blues, then head to Ptarmigan. There is some sweet terrain over there and it is usually a lot less crowded. I'd bring a pow board and a charger for groomers. Cheers!

To be fair, WP has at least as many difficult catwalk spots (a couple shitty ones) as Breck, and is not really conveniently located from a Dillon strikepoint.

You should take a day at the LUV with me tho Chompers, probably a few guys come out of the woodwork for that, tailgate the lot up...probably save a hundred bucks that day too!

Absolutely do that Chomps. Our LUV day riding n BBQ with the guys was so much fun! Just pack your warm jacket

BTW: other than for a tailgate, LUV sucks. No need to go there. Cold n slow - Correct, SK?

Not against Copper or Breckinridge, but don't know those places. If Deagol does a Copper day, would try for that. But dates? My daughter and I ride Telluride sometime in Feb, don't have my calendar.

That would be Awesome SK!

I got sum advice from another member that since I was going to rent a car while I'm there,.. I might want to hold off on deciding & purchasing my lift tickets too far in advance. He said he would wait and make the decisions on where to go based on the snow for that day! Seemed like good advice. I'll have my laptop with me so I could still purchase discounted tickets a day or so in advance off the Ol interwebz.

That could make planning any kind if meet easier as well. Keep my options flexible instead of rolling the dice and hoping that anyones schedule will coincide with whatever resort I had tickets for on such n such a day!

I'll shoot you a pm with my number and as my departure date gets closer we can connect and maybe see what's possible. Thanks!!
