Pretty fun place. I go there a couple times a year the last 2 years but I have a season to snowbasin and I know that place a bit better.only problem with pow mow is the slow chairs but I've heard they have 2 new lifts. I'm not sure what terrain they access but as of last year if you want the best stuff you pay extra for a snow cat tour. (I haven't tried that and again I haven't looked to see if the new lifts access any of it). Then there is powder country, which is some side country that drops you back on the road where you can catch a shuttle back to the resort.
The biggest perk is it is probably not the most crowded place but I've never been there on a busy weekend. They also seem to not get tracked or super fast.

Well I had a peek at the trail map and unless they haven't updated there is no new lift accessed terrain. Maybe they put in some higher speed lifts. But I'd your going there you may wanna check out the adventure center for info on cat tours. The vibe is a little more old school and carefree at powder and it is fun. I go to basin mainly cause they have half off on season pass deals in the preseason and powder only does full price. If you're buying a day pass powder will be cheaper though.
I will be at powder between Christmas and new years for a day due to my blackout.

My wife and I went a couple years ago for only a day. Absolutely loved it. Great vibe, excellent terrain, uncrowded. We paid for two cat rides - the cat really just functions as a lift up a ridge. You can ride down from there or climb to the top of the peak. We climbed about halfway once and all the way once. It was an excellent ride down.

I heard the "new chair(s)" were replacements. The Paradise chair was supposed to be replaced, which would be awesome because there was great terrain but the lift was quite slow.

Looking at the trail map it looks like the two new lifts access terrain that was previously accessible only from all-day guided cat tours. Mary's Bowl and Lefty's Canyon are what the areas are called, though the lift for Lefty's appears to really only service a small part of that area - you'd have to pay for a cat ride to get back up from the bottom of the good runs.

We will be out there in February. The woman and I are mellow riders so I'm hoping it fits well with our riding style.

PowMow isn't as steep as the cottonwoods(Snowbird\Brighton) but the terrain is so so good and the inbounds backcountry where you ride all the way down into the valley and then catch a bus back to the main resort is fucking fantastic when conditions are right.

If PowMow was closer to SLC it would easily be our home resort

Any of you friendly locals know if you can bivy in the lot or somewhere close? Was planning a trip........but it looks like a couple fucks are backing out. I've got some free days and would love to check it out...........but can't afford lodging, gas and food. Somewhere to sleep in the car.......without security or the law telling me I gotta move in the middle of the night. Feel free to PM me if you don't wanna share on a public forum............

No idea on where to stay. Walmart parking lot maybe. Or look into one of the no tell motels in Ogden. Always motel 6 too, can't be all that much for a few nights there. Honestly if you're traveling into the area and can't afford a motel it might not make sense to spend your last dollar on lift tix.
