Default Need a Bartending\Serving job in Big\Little cottonwood canyons

This will be our first full winter season living in Salt Lake area(Sandy\CottonWood Heights) and the girlfriend is looking for a serving\bartending job at one of the local big\little cottonwood canyon.

She's a cute, friendly and highly experienced Bartender\Server at high end fine dining restaurants and pubs. She has extensive alcohol safety\wine\sushi training+experience and has worked fine dinning and administration in both Glacier National Park and Northstar at Tahoe as well as our local resorts\restaurants here at home(Minnesota)as well as experience backpacking and snowboarding. She has full health and Dental through me so no need for that to be supplied by her employer. We both ride 60+ plus days last year and backpacked over 180 miles in 2011.

Just looking for some tips(no pun intended) I can pass onto her so she can get the best shot at a job at preferably Snowbird or Solitude(We have season passes at Brighton) or Alta if she can still get Snowbird passes.

We won't be pulling into SLC until December 1st, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is she actually wanting to work in the canyons themselves? There are some really good places at the bottom of the canyon. Try porcupine grill and Market Street Grill. Both are at the bottom of BCC.

Yes she definitely wants to work up IN big or little cottonwood canyon and not down in the valley but if worst comes to worst she'll obviously take whatever she can get and Porcupine grill is on her list and now I'll have her look into Market Street Grill, so thanks for that.

Two Reasons

1. We have season passes at Brighton but if she gets a job at Solitude or Snowbird we have more options to ride somewhere free\cheap other than Brighton. We love the steeps at Snowbird and Honeycomb Canyon at Solitude as well as the Brighton\Solitude side-country \ boundary riding so if she could get a job at either of those places there's obviously a huge advantage there.

2. She's trying to build up her resume up more ski resorts and resort job opportunities as she wants to go back to school for a "resort management" type of education\training over the next couple years.

Side Question
Not sure if your in the loop but were not gonna really know anyone out there as far as riders, is there somewhere specific down in the valley that local shredders like to hang out, eat or party?

Thanks

There are several bars at the bottom of the canyon. Canyon Inn is decent bar and it is normally bro brah out. One thing I have learned here about Utah it seems more people go to house parties. I thought people quit doing those once everyone got fake ID's. Not here people still have house parties.

For food the best place in town is Hector's formally known as Molca Salsa. So good.

Not really into the "bro brah" scene but house parties and Mexican food are cool with us , thanks again for the tips we hope to be settled in by December 1st you'll have to let us buy you a couple drinks so you can give us the lowdown.

Just thought I'd throw my hat in the ring as I'll also be spending my first winter in SLC. My sis and I are driving from Chicago and plan on moving in Dec 1.
We also won't know anyone in SLC but are definitely looking to meet people we can hang/ride with.

Cool great to meet ya Bowa, do you guys know where your going to spend the bulk of your time riding?

Were in our late 20's\early 30's I'm a corporate tool(but I work in Sandy so I'm 10 minutes from Snowbird) and Aubs works in the service industry(as you can see) were pretty chill and like to party but our primary reason for being in SLC is to ride so we take this awe4some opportunity pretty seriously.

We should all seriously get together for drinks and food when everyone gets into town!

I'm still trying to figure out where I should get a pass...I'll have a day job M-F, so was thinking a night pass to Brighton and keep the options open for the weekends.
I'll be living in South Salt Lake/Millcreek area, so hopefully the commute to the slopes won't be too bad.

I'm definitely down for hanging/riding when we get into town!

Same here to all three of you, I'm always looking to meet new people since I'm pretty new here in SLC.

Bowa, I'm kind of in the same are as you. I live just south of Sugarhouse and have my pass to Brighton. Going to grad school so I'll probably be up there as much as I can on weekends and that's about it. Commute doesn't seem like it will be bad at all considering I moved here from Oklahoma where the nearest resorts were almost 8hrs away.......
