Mary Jane - when will it open?! - Snowboarding Forum

We have a trip booked to Winter Park Dec 20-24, but i'm getting really really nervous about the lack of open lifts/trails. I wish so badly that jane will be open, but when? Anyone historically have experience. I really wish we had just waited until feb to go now!!! Any uplifiting news or reality checks welcome......

It's not looking good. They'll probably get the Jane open by that date, but it ain't going to be much. Mary Jane run and a few side feeders at best. You are not going to want to venture off of named runs into the trees or anything like that. Unless it dumps, but the so called storm cycle is not looking like much right now. For the Jane to be good, the summit snow depth needs to have crossed 50". We are a long way from that...

Looks like the Jane will open by this weekend. I don't think it'll be accessing a ton of terrain, but it'll be open.

im new to CO, whats the big deal with Mary Jane, what makes it 'special'

Nothing. There are better places to ride IMO in Colorado. Mary Jane is fun on a pow day, steep, and can be relatively crowd free compared to Vail/fail and mostly flat brek.

thanks Sick -pow i never ski winter park anyway and dont get off on the steep stuff
