Here's real advice:

If you go to school at Boulder without your head screwed on properly (as in, putting snow time/fun time ahead of study time) then you *will* fail out. Its a party school and there are a ton of distractions. I know two people who failed out of that particular campus their first year there.

I've never met anyone who graduated from any schools in Utah, and I've never visited the campus so I don't have any info for you there.

I was broke when I was in college, and my curriculum wasn't exactly easy. A recreational luxury like season passes for snowboarding would have been the least of my concerns.

it affects the whole valley, once you hit utah county it's not as bad...but who wants to live there?

it's ugly but unless you have a breathing problem or something I wouldn't let it impact my decision, you can drive 15 minutes up into the Canyons and the air is fine. I would agree with the comments above though Boulder is a HUGE party school with a ton of distractions as I know one individual personalty who failed out her first year due to partying distractions but you may be responcible enough to deal with that.

Also have you priced tuition at Boulder?!?!?!?!?

Are you still weighing in about how hard engineering was? Are you serious? It was a breeze and I got 55 days in my senior year. I went to a top 10 party school had a blast every night and had no problem staying up all night the night before a test to study and pass the test. It is all about priorities. I also got a good job out West like I wanted so it worked out for me.

Yes if you look at the photo I posted it was taken from about 5 miles south of downtown. You can see downtown in the photo. I work in Tooele County and we have a nasty inversion as well over here. It straight up sucks! Especially when you are training for another marathon and you have to run. What a fun time that is.

I haven't been serious this whole thread, but I will be for a second. If you enjoy things in the valley such as sports and want to do them in the winter don't move here. I have never had breathing problems but once you start sucking in oxygen it burns and slows you down a lot. Hell my 3 mile run is almost a min/mile slower than average even though I am exerting myself more.

Utah is clearly full and the inversion is proof of that. Move to boulder and marry a chick with flowers in her hair. She might not have showered in a full year, but it is better than a mormon chick wanting to marry you on the first date.

Go to Utah State. Their basketball student section is incredible (not that that should be your determining factor).

Yea didn't even think about you doing marathon training\running I agree that would suck but hey what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right....ok well maybe not in this case.

Funny since I know more than 10 graduates from there that clocked 75 plus day seasons. Then again I know 2 people that live in Atlanta and pretend to be snowboarders too.

On a serious note Boulder is crowded and you're stuck with trustafarians that have Moly and Pretty Lights addictions. Go marry a Mormon and shred Brighton with Vols he loves sharing his resort!

1. I'm sure that engineering (chemical, was it?) was probably a piece of cake at UTK (was it?). It isn't exactly known for the quality of its engineering school. Tennessee Tech had the better reputation in TN for engineering.

2. Senior year isn't the toughest year...at least not where I went to school. End of sophmore to mid junior year is when you took the crappiest classes.

I would love to see you try to put in your 55 days in the ChemE program at GaTech without having to repeat half of your classes. Is it possible? Yep... but you'd better be reeeeeally smart and work your ass off when you're not on the hill. (Even then, I wouldn't bet money on you being able to do it successfully)

FYI: I graduated high school in Knox county and could have easily attended UT (with in-state tuition).
