Hey can someone who knows off the top of their head let me know what resorts don't allow snowboarding in Utah? Making a trip there in February, and I don't want to show up and not be allowed!

The Deer Valley thing has been rumored for a good while. I just can't see them holding on for too much longer, even with their high end clients. Too many of them have kids where Johnny and Susie want to ride snowboards. For them to do that, they have to go to the Canyons or Park City. Not ideal if you want to ski as a family. They are booking elsewhere. Deer Valley knows this. The only reason I think they have stuck it out is the Burton Poach thing from a couple of years back that made them look like asses.

Either way Deer Valley and especially Alta are pretty epic resorts especially if you take into account their access to the local backcountry.

Now that I'm getting familiar with the SLC\Park city area I'm astounded by how close all these resorts actually are to each other. One can easily skin from one resort to another and ride some pretty kick ass backcountry area on the way.

EDIT

Buying a splitboard this summer is now my #1 priority behind fencing in my 4 acres of land to keep the dogs in check while I"m away.

As long as you're on skis, I think there is a program you can sign up for that does exactly that - it's basically a mini tour that goes from one mountain to another or something, I remember reading about it.

Of course, if you're an experienced BC rider with a split, there's really no need to pay for that schmooz you can just do the same thing on your own.

I'm with Gary on this one. If I am going to skin up Grizzly to drop into Alta I am going to keep going to the Wolverine Cirque way better and much steeper pitches than Alta will give you. The provo brothers made a sick edit from a year ago of snurfing in the trees at deer valley before they opened that was sick.

Ahh yes but what I'm getting at is if you have multiple partners with multiple cars you can start and end your tours at resorts(or trail heads) where you have cars parked with plentiful amounts of snacks and PBR's. :)

Yea I was standing above the Deer valley closed lifts 2 weeks ago @ Gaurdsman, it was untouched tracks all the way down to the base area the only reason I didn't hit it was the girlfriend has no Avy training or equipment and I didn't have a ride back or a split to skin the 2 miles back to the ridge of the pass to get back to my car.
