I have been keeping my eye on the weather pretty much daily this season and the latest weather outlook has me feeling like it is the beginning of this season all over again. Warm weather and bluebird days as far as the forecast can predict. What happened to all our snow in Colorado?
I was hoping some of our weather gurus on this site can weigh in on this or at least have someone tell me something positive to fill me with a false sense of hope for massive spring snow in the Rockies this year however doubtful it may be. 3.jpg 4.jpg Last edited by AcroPhile; 03-09-2012 at 03:29 PM. |

It is the snowiest month, but there are a handful over the 21 years I've been here where we got next to nothing. It looks like the chance for snow returns next Friday. I'm going on my splitboard trip to Washington that day, so it'll probably nuke. You're welcome...

The first half of March looks like a complete bust. Hopefully the second half of March and April come through for us.
If not, oh well. It'll be an early hiking/backpacking/fishing season. At this point, I could give a fuck which occurs.

Wow, that would make for a shitty year altogether.

When I broke NY leg I was hopeful for late season riding... now I gave up... unless some fluke gives us a huge dump in early April I'm done. Bring on the hiking, biking, camping and white water.

Has the season in colorado really been that bad? Since january it's turned around quite a bit here in Utah, not a memorable year but I've had at least 10 legit powder days of over 8" ranging all the way up to a couple over 20"
Still lots of fun out there |

I've had at least 10 maybe 20 legit powder days this season in Colorado. People just aren't getting it when the getting is good. The past month of February has been money.
Of course now that the moisture maker is turned off, it's all shit, doom and gloom. Still a lot of season left. If March stays dry then I'll call it a bust. |
