I caught on the news this morning that Echo mountain is now being turned into a ski racing facility. Dedicated to ski teams, kids racing and such. Not so sure how this is going to work out. Loveland and Copper both serve ski teams with better and steeper vert. Plus they get the early season groups, where as Echo probably won't even be open yet.

I give this place three years tops before it's another lost resort.

Wow. Sounds worse than I thought. Sounds like it's going to be pretty much completely private. Seems like this rich lady basically just wants a private training facility for her spoiled brats and their friends.

That is how I read it. They are going private. There is big bucks in the ski racing circuit for sure. I just don't think Echo is going to attract enough of that market. Too many other places with better facilities in winter.

The only sport more expensive than ski racing is Nascar. That's a true fact but they sealed the deal and I get to write an article mocking them now.

Echo was making money despite the access issues and an all park setup with a shitty park. The investors admitted they didn't need to sell it, they were just curious to see what they could get. What is the bullshit about the fire departments? It doesn't matter what they think. Going private won't change anything for them. That bitch catches on fire or somebody gets fucked up, they'll still be driving their happy asses up there.
