Denver suburbs locals! I need some advice - Page 6 - Snowboarding Forum

Ya never rode on a sunday, but it seems like sunday is the day this year.

Ton of traffic headed back even at 1 or 2pm?

I am going to take some time this winter and do some exploring in RMNP. The terrain there is pretty off the hook. Unlike anything in Colorado outside of the San Juans. Might as well get to know it. I know my plans for this season were that anything I was going to do off of I70 on the weekend would be Saturday only. No way was I going to deal with the return traffic on Sunday.

Makes sense. I was wondering why they were paving the frontage road there. Honestly, I've just been avoiding the I-70 corridor like the plague. I swear that the summer traffic has gotten even worse than the ski season traffic. It'll be a big help once they get that work done but the process of getting there is gonna suck ass. If I'm still working M-F I probably won't even get a pass while they're working on it. It's gonna be BAD.

If you're leaving Summit at 2pm on Sunday you're too late. You can sometimes pull off leaving Loveland that late.

It took me 3 hours to get to Denver from the tunnel on a Sunday a few years back... that was the last "weekend" I ever went to a resort.

My work situation may change for the better, including Fridays off. Where would you hit on Friday? Are all of the resorts fair game or should I stick to A-basin?

i live in broomfield right on wadsworth and 36, i zip down wadsworth about 20mins and im on I-70, not as close as lakewood but good none the less.
ps there is a big Pf changs in flatirons mall

We moved from Tampa, FL man, wasted 6 years of life out there, SOOOOO glad to be here now.

The drive wasnt bad, we did get stranded in Hays, KS for 2 days tho cuz a blizzard closed down I 70 through the plains. All good, got some beers and chilled in the hot tub for a couple days

no breck, vail, keystone on saturdays? Is it that bad man? Dammit, just got my epic pass and was pumped!!

did you guys take a U-haul or just your own car?

Dude it was a nightmare actually with car problems.

But we rented a uhaul trailer and pulled it with a jeep cherokee. Cherokee friggin broke down on i70 in missouri,.... what a headache, but we had to rent a truck, unload the trailer, and then pull this big ass 17ft truck with a trailer and the jeep on it... all in a town of like 90 ppl. Felt like i was in a bad movie.

Anyways, yea man, we had a 2 bedroom apt to move, thats why we decided on a big trailer and using the jeep to pull it.

What part of Tampa your friend from? CO SLAYS Tampa, cant believe I waited so long to get out here!

I70 traffic is worse in Summer on Sunday evening. That's a fact. Got popped by it once this summer. Coming back from Aspen. We decided to mess around in Glennwood Springs for a bit. Should have just got the eff out of dodge.

Anyway, I70 traffic is what it is. Been dealing with the same traffic issues since 1990 and I am sure before that. Part of the reason I am very particular about where I will ride on certain days on the weekend. Fortunately I have plenty of powder days saved up and a boss that works with me on my schedule. So weekends maybe account for half my riding days most seasons.
