SLC Area to Snowbasin Carpool Thread 12/13 Season

If anyone wants to carpool up to Snowbasin from the SLC valley area this season, hit me up. I'm in the Sugarhouse area around 700 East and I-80.
Looking to mitigate the gas/mileage up there.
Hitting mainly weekends and 1 or 2 days during the week for storm days.

Thanks.

I don't think I have ever heard of a person from Salt Lake going to Snowbasin on a regular basis. That is like a huge road trip for you guys...

Not really, 47 miles each way from downtown SLC so around 20 miles more each way than the Cottonwoods.
About 20 minutes longer than the Cottonwoods (60 minutes vs 40 minutes)
They had the cheapest early season pass around here for $449 which is ridiculously cheap for UT so there might be a few more SLC locals than usual up there.
Kind of a joke of a drive really no? Compared to Denver or Sacramento/Reno to Tahoe but yeah, people seem to consider this a long drive around here lol. If u are in the south end.of the valley i guess it would add up.

Our drives aren't that long unless you're going over Vail pass. Loveland, Abasin, WinterPark, Copper, Breck and Keystone are all 50-75minutes from the bottom of the mountains in Denver.

We just have like 50 other resorts in great areas all over the state that are not close as well. (Durango, T-ride, CB, Aspen, Vail, Steamboat...)

I know u guys are closer, jus sayin, cruisin up i70 to summit is pretty easy.

That's a long drive. Should have just gotten a Brighton pass and be done with it. Most people on here ride Brighton.

That is the SLC attitude I am used too!

I was just poking a little fun. There just seems to be an aversion for SLC riders to go to Snowbasin and Powder Mountain because they are so far away. Like 20 minutes further. Cracks me up.

Haha. The deciding factor in choosing the new place I live was the fact that it is closer to the top of the canyon. (30min vs 40 min)

makes it easy to justify a 1 hour trip to the hill.

Ok I had a feeling this thread was going to turn into a pissing match over proximity to resort parking lot LOL.

Look I don't mind driving an extra 20 minutes and losing a 100 inch snowfall average for what I paid for the Snowbasin pass and a variety of other things I feel is worth the drive for. The pros far outweigh the cons for me personally.

So even if you want to on occasion go up there and hop in with us for the ridiculously long 60 minute "road trip" from downtown SLC then holler :D

I lived in Edwards so yes I'm gauged my Colorado comment off what I used to hear from my friends who came up to Vail valley, so really I have no personal experience with that drive from the front range, I'm sure it's not bad to Summit at all.

Yeah....

I don't see where this is a pissing match at all. Making fun of the stereo type sure. For most the commute to Snowbasin is ridiculously long compared to driving up the Cottonwoods or to the Park City spots. I find that funny. 20 minutes is nothing.

Good on you for choosing Snowbasin. It's great mountain. A rather long commute for me, but I know of some gems out of that area.

I don't mind a "longer" drive. Back east from where I'm from it was 42min, then at college it was 2hrs each way, every weekend. Never been to Snowbasin though. It's on my list this year.
