Is anyone going to the opening day of Arapahoe Basin tommorow ? I was thinking about going since I'm only 20 minutes away, but I'm a little worried it'll suck because of only one run and tons of people. The one run I don't mind, but not being able to carve without hitting someone would suck. Anyone went to an opening day on a weekday before, or at all ? How was it ?

Maybe i'll just go at like 3 when most people have gotten board and went home :dunno:

If your that close and already have a pass why not? Even if the lines suck ass(which im sure they will) and the run is crowded(again a most likely), what the hell else are you gonna do thats not more of a waste of time??

They will have at least a couple rails set up too. Just get there super early so you get first tracks and dip when you get bored/cant handle the crowd anymore

Was pretty sweet! I showed up casually late (got drunk the night before), and toked a quick B before headed towards the huge line. I hopped in the singles line, since well... I'm single lol. Turns out I made the right choice because it was a bit quicker then the regular line, only about 20-30 minutes.

I was scared my first run would suck and I would eat shit, but turns out snowboarding is like riding bike if not better. There was a little powder from last nights storm & the continuous snowmaking. I saw a few people hitting ice patches and eating shit but I just kept an eye out for powder spots and hop carved the ice parts and didn't fall once the whole time (6 runs). I played frogger most the day which was actually sort of fun :D.

I've only done 2 180's and 1 360 in my life before today. I've been visualizing all summer how to do them (helps me). Well the beginning of the run is sorta flat and hard to get speed on, so I just started hucking my body around just like I pictured and almost right away I was doing 1's and 3's (to get momentum going, hardly ever wax my rock board).

Overall It was a sweet day, and I'm stoked for the season to really get rolling. :)

Yikes, that lineup is Nasssty.

With that many people there has got to be someone you know in there somewhere? Isn't there?

I'd be walkin' up & down the line till I found someone I know, then join them.
Or
I'm a chronic pot smoker & always bring some extra for snowboarding. I would go up to some stoner lookin' kids & offer them a joint to cut in front of them.

I fuckin' hate line ups & I'll try anything to get to the front of one.

I was pleasantly surprised at how great the snow was in the morning. Those couple inches last night definitely helped. The lift line was pretty crazy, but not as bad as I thought it would be and the trail was surprisingly not too crowded. I left around 11:30 and it was already starting to get skied off...probably sucked in the afternoon. The park was nice, they had two down bars, an a frame, a down flat down, and two box features. It started to get rutted right before I left, but what do you expect when every park rat in colorado is hiking the left 4 features. I'm going again tomorrow, but I have a feeling it is going to suck and I'll leave early. I don't think I'm even going to bother this weekend. Crowds will be pure insanity.

Pretty much all the ski areas in Colorado have a singles line for anything larger than a double. Even if the queue for the singles line is longer than the regular line, it moves much faster. If, and that is a big "if" these days, I am riding at one of the junk show resorts on a weekend, I ride the singles line. Even with friends. We just gather up on top and go. Plus it gives you an excuse to meet some interesting people on the lift. The shit you can say is pretty much limitless...

I was in about chair 30. I made one run and bailed, just wanted to get a run in to say I did. I have to go to summit for some bank shit in a few minutes so I'm gonna make another run today. Headed to Vegas, san Diego, LA tomorrow afternoon for 10 days for some quick beach and heat then back to the snow till may...... Can't wait to come back and open keystone, breck then vail and beav.....
