East Vail Chutes from what I seen are almost completely covered by a convexity at the top. You are playing with the dragon when punching a line over those this season. That was the main reason I avoided the upper cliffs at Shrine Pass on Friday.

There was an avalanche in a closed off part of Montazuma bowl yesterday. Caught a small group but no deaths. They were doing a lot of blasting in that area yesterday morning.

Went to Breck on friday. Snow was awesome. Lift lines were worse than expected, traffic was worse than expected. I said screw it for going on Saturday and Sunday. Cams at Breck looked absolutely awful, way more crowded than on Friday. I-70 traffic, however didn't seem that bad today when I was periodically checking it, no worse, or even better than on Friday... Very weird.
Friday was probably my second best day all season, and by far the best day at Breck. it was pretty cold and windy near the top of the treeline, but there was plenty of soft stuff to be found all day. Last edited by digZ; 02-17-2013 at 10:21 PM. |

What lines on Friday? I nailed 5 untouched laps before 9. Saturday was win scoured ass at Breck. So glad I didn't even get out of bed today.

I just realized I originally said Saturday was awesome, I meant Friday. Didn't go up on Saturday, my brain is turning off -_- Last edited by digZ; 02-17-2013 at 10:22 PM. |

Hit Vail again on Saturday and it was pretty damn good again. Reported 6" Saturday morning and 5" the day before. Found the same exact fresh lines in China bowl as we found 2 weeks ago. Not quite as deep, but definitely not as heavy.
Continued to find fresh snow all day long starting in Sun up, China 2x, Earl's 3x, Pete's and then back to the front. And that is where it sucked, haha. We took 36 back up and went to the front via Northwoods... holy hell it was like a night and day difference between fresh, soft snow in the back... to hard, icy snow on Northwoods. Did a couple laps off of 4 and then got out of the parking garage by 2pm. Just about zero traffic on the way back to the city on Saturday, which I was glad to see, especially since we didn't leave until almost 4. STILL trying to figure out the parking situation at Vail. I haven't tried the ticket trick yet, usually because I'm too lazy to walk up to the front and get one. Know of some other spots to park for free, but the ease of parking right in the garage kicks when you get off the exit (versus waiting for a bus, etc.). Damn that $25! |

I see Loveland got the shaft on this recent snow. Shocker. I remember when it used to snow at Loveland. It made for awesome times.
Still holding out hope for a good day on Thursday. Fingers crossed...
