Joel is pretty good. He did a fine job last year. There just wasn't much to report on until late in the season. Between him, snowforecast, and NOAA (shutdown atm?), makes for some great resources to figure out where you want to be when storms are predicted.

He's great. He is just in the position where I'm going to love him or hate him hehe.

Looks like Loveland got the most snow overnight in the Front Range. Jones pass got 1" @ 10400' and Bert summit got 2".

I think there is no sense in going to attempt to ride Jones pass today. Anyone suppose there is anything rideable on LL?

You might give Loveland Pass a go.

I'd like to point out that the Jones Pass Snotel is down a lot lower than the Summit. 10,400 versus over 12 at the top of the pass. I know there is a building I can see from the Summit on the Grand County side but I am pretty sure that is not the Snotel site. It's too close and it doesn't look 2k vertical below.

Anyway, the snow field up there got a pretty decent shot of snow last week. With some winds and probably more than an inch (2-4 maybe?), along with some wind loading, it's probably pretty good. Bring a partner if you go up there. It's a fair ways back there and it is already time to start thinking about avalanches where there is enough snow to slide.

That said, I think that spot is a good bet.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm waiting for my girlfriend come home from work @ 9:30 so I still have a little time to think locations over. It doesn't even need to be that good. All I'm hoping is to get to slide around just a little bit.

Your making a good case for Jones though.

So it begins Al's Blog: Opening Day - Sunday

I'll be up there snaking people and being obnoxious as usual.
