The models are all starting to agree that CO is gonna see significant snow. Some disagreement on exactly where the serious dumpage will occur, but it's gonna snow.
Snowbird has gotten over 40 inches in the last 48 hours. Heading up tomorrow. Friday it will clear up and melt. 81 inch base right now. I'm surprised CO is not getting hammered by this storm yet
It's a slow moving storm. That's why all the forecasters are shook. It's coming in so slow and is predicted to stall somewhere, they just aren't sure where. The exact location of that stall will probably determine whether this is just another storm or whether we're still talking about this storm years from now. The last time we got several feet here in Evergreen was about 6 years ago. We're due a proper dumping.
The forecasters still don't know what to say. It's already underway now, so as far as I'm concerned they might as well go ahead and shut up. You can't place a bet after the game has already started.
Vail needs a foot to be good. The lower half of the mountain is basically closed, there was a very rapid melt off over the past 10 days. Barely worth riding anymore. Maybe this storm will deliver vail more than 10", doubt it though
Yeah, they're still saying that slopes west of the divide will get good snow out of this one, but I'm not sure I buy it. Time and time again upslope storms are forecasted to have the winds carry high enough to provide some spillover but it seems like the vast majority of the time that just doesn't happen.
It was snowing hard as hell here in Evergreen from about 7am until about 10am and then just abruptly stopped. Since 10am it's been looking like the sun is trying to come out. Now the sun is legitimately out. WTF???
14" in the past 24............suck it summer...........
