Not sure what it's like down there. The San Juans have a totally different weather pattern than the rest of the state.
Wolf has a ton of snow, not sure about Purg. I do know they have more than usual for this time of year. Even though I doubt there's as much fun in the trees to be had I'm stoked to ride there. I'll be getting to Wolf and possibly Telluride later in the season.
jeephreak, have you taken you L1, have the gear, and a partner? Everyone is right, it's super touchy out there. If I had time I would go out bc riding tomorrow, but Loveland Pass would probably not be on the list of places I would go to hike around. Most of the hike to stuff is going to be avalanche prone. Just because someone has ridden does not mean stability.
This video illustrates the danger.
This was in Colorado and that skier did not survive.
With all the snow we are getting and the winds, there are going to lots of problems. It'll be there to do another day. No shame in waiting. If you do go out, play conservative.

Wow! That was really freaky! Once again in my ignorance of BC conditions,..
I wouldn't have thought that possible. Multiple lines taken on it, slope's pow all cut up, from the vid it doesn't even look particularly steep! And then, it looks like the slide cut loose from the top, across the entire length of the slope.
Scary shit! I have a lot of respect for you guys, (...and gals.) who venture out to ride in BC & areas like that!
You're only Young Once,.. but you can be Immature FOREVER!
