Got up to Keystone at 7:30 and had very minimal waits at the lifts for the entire day and awesome conditions. Left at 3:00 and didn't touch my brakes once on the drive home. That's about as good of a day as you can get when coming from Denver on a weekend.

Hoping the snow holds up for the next few days. Headed to Vail Monday-Thursday.
It was a jack knifed semi that closed 70. I was behind it but it didn't delay us that much. We still made it to keystone at 8:20. We left at 4:30pm and we were going to hang out in Breck for the traffic to die down. But there was absolutely none on the way back.

Last Saturday was the worst drive all season. For good reason though. It rained up to a significant elevation then turned to snow. I70 was pretty much a sheet of ice which is unusual. Snow packed, yes but not pure ice. It was a much more sketchy drive than usual. Patience paid off as the conditions were awesome. Roads were fine by 11am or so.

Saturday left Georgetown at 6:10......got up the hill and about 3 miles from Bakerville there were several semis "parked" in various spots on the road. Spinning their tires with no chains.........well past the "all commercial vehicles must use chains" signs. Parked in the lanes.......not off to the side......drivers of said trucks, walkin' around pullin' their peters. No urgency to do anything. Took about 45 minutes to get past.......after that....smooth sailing. Ban commercial vehicles at certain times on I-70 and your traffic problems diminish.

Life was rough up here. Walked out to the bus, it was 2 minutes late. Barely made it to first chair on Saturday, walked on to the lift and got 5 solid pow laps in before 9 a.m. Downside speared myself on a tree and obliterated my puffy.

dudes going there for the second time this season, one was on xmas and one this friday,
remembering one night going back to Denver on i-70, it was packed, and snowing like crazy. with 20-30 percent uphill (downhill) grades this is brutal,
my piece of shit ford focus rental all of a sudden started yelling about transmission overheat, tought tranny overheat is a thing about clutched vehicles, aka manual gear (like what I own) it said stop for 7 minutes, it was really scary, as the car started not moving on an uphill road, with 1000 cars in the back going 15-20mph, I was lucky enough to be near a shoulder and parked right behind a wrx sti, man there were smoke coming out of its hood. that is sad, $5k is gone

There's nothing on I-70 even remotely close to 20-30 degree grades.

Meanwhile, I-70 is dunzo. Shutdown both directions.

I just drove to frisco and back. It's not vail pass that's closed.....

This morning the upper mountain was pretty awesome. Like 4" dense snow on top of the crusty.... The denser snow made all the difference

Im in Colorado for my first time ever; arrived on sunday.
Great day at Breck Today.
Got in some solid pow runs off the right of the Imperial chair through the gates.
Hit that spot yesterday afternoon for solid pow as well.
It seems that everyone goes through the gates and traverses for days, meanwhile if you drop in right after entering the pow was pretty close to untracked - My board did sustain two somewhat sizeable scratches, but it was worth it.

Only thing thats been bothering me about Breck is every good pow spot I have found requires a tonne of different lifts and run outs in order to lap. This was severely compounded by the fact that the guys im riding with refuse to ride the T bar (not that I didnt make a fool of myself on it yesterday).

Anyway, so far Ive just ridden breck, and I want to get to vail on Saturday. Problems: Im 15, dad not looking to drive the 2WD minivan without snowtires to vail in the snow (calling for 4 - 6 inches saturday), and I would rather not spend 140 dollars for 3 people.

If anyone knows the name of a good shuttle service that maybe comes out to a little bit less than the 35 a person plus tax that I'm seeing, that would be great... Otherwise its time to empty out the piggy bank.
