I know it's early, but damn, we need some snow.

Colorado | OpenSnow

That shit looks like a repeat of last season.

I went up on Sunday. It was an epic spring day. It was one of those warm spring days we did not see much of this season. Conditions are still pretty good. The coverage is better than it was in April last season.

The sun was out in full force. I put on sunscreen in the morning and rode till about 3ish. I got burnt to hell. My lips were burnt badly and I have a goggle sunburn. If you are a pasty white person or a ginger reapply the sunscreen at some point in the day. Use SPF lip balm. I did not and I may get some serious chapped lips.

Lake Reveal was even smaller than it was on Tuesday. :dunno: They better not close before it happens, cause I want to see people fall in.

About a quarter or a third of Lake Reveal was actually water, the rest was slush and/or ice. Not a single cloud in the sky today. I wore no sunscreen as usual so now I feel like a liquidator coming back from Chernobyl. It feels like my skin is still radiating away the UV rays I absorbed during the day.

Even with the near 70 degree temps the snow wasn't too bad and the slush was fun to ride but not much snow is left. I doubt Abasin could last another week with these temps (at least the lower half).

I was looking around for a car in the lower parking lot with a keg but the only guy I saw was a lone skier with a mini keg sitting by himself. Figured it wasn't anyone from here

That slush and ice sure as hell fooled me. I did my first pond skim on Lake Reveal and ended up on the middle part. I unstrapped and attempted to walk through the slush, it was waist deep. It took my feet about 5 hours to warm back up. Holy shit that water was cold. Imagine if Lake Dillon was also filled with ice cubes. It would be colder than that.

Sunday was very busy and the pond was absolutely hilarious with some awesome fails. Going over the pond on Leenaway was so entertaining. I saw some people fall before they even got to the water. While crowded, it was one of the best closing days in my 8 years. All the typical Basin antics where in full swing  They should never close before Lake Reveal shows it's self.

Is there anything still open? My wife just got deployed to the area to handle fire claims (hour south of Denver she says). I don't think I'll go with ... unless there is some really fun riding to be had! If not I'll stay home.

EDIT: I checked and it looks like everything finally closed ...
