Havent been on the site since last season damn, good to see all the regs are still around.
Anyone know if they are really raising epic pass prices after the 2nd? And if I recall from last year if they do raise it its usually only by $20 right?
This is just my guess but they'll do a "extended pass sale" for 2 weeks to 2 more months then it'll increase that 20ish bucks. I do know after something like November 15th it jumps up to like 1,500 bucks or something absurd.
I dont give a shit. Ill be out sliding on whatever snow is available, every day. Im currently moving into a 3bed/3 bath that is about 100' yards to the lionshead gondola. Fucking hate moving. Only good thing os its all just packed in storage since our place for the pats few years was furnished. Fucking hate moving.
I hoping that this is a sign of things to come. Hopefully this moisture hangs around till well into spring. :hope:
Realistically, it probably won't be better than 2010-11 season or as bad as the 2011-12 season. At this point I would be pretty happy with an average snowfall season as long is it comes down consistently and without any monthlong droughts.
Looks like they are predicting 5-7" above 10k and over a foot above 12k tonight. Should be enough to do some snow sliding at the grassy spots at Bert and Loveland passes. The good news is that most of it should melt, not leaving a layer that causes those nasty avalanche conditions we saw late last season. If you can get out Monday morning, grab those rock boards and hit a pass.
guys guys check this out, 2014-2013 = 1, because this year is going to be number 1 in snowfall! this doesnt happen with any other consecutive year. 2013 - 2012 = oh shit.
i dont know, but speaking of partaking of do you know if illuminati snowboards has a relationship to the illuminati community? That would be weird, and sick! it would give me powders!
I can see some snow up on Longs/Storm Peak from my place. Way up high is still cloudy. Almost the entire divide is covered in clouds. Just keeping my fingers crossed that this wet pattern continues into late fall/winter.
More snow coming, Thursday night, Friday, and Friday night.
A promising sign of things to come, but hopefully this early snow won't turn into depth hoar that will plague us for the entire season like last year.
??? I gotta ask the stoopid noob question on this one??? I thought "Early Snow" was a Good thing? Based on BA's & AcroPhile's comments, I presume If it's too much, too early, it creates or can become a dangerous (unstable?) base layer later? ..and if so, since it's the bottom most layer, has the potential to produce bigger, more massive avalanches with the entire later snowpack on top?
OK! Thanks, Wow! I didn't realize that the whole "wishing for snow" thing is a lot trickier in the mountains than it is on the little hills around here! :dunno:
The early snow thing is such a huge problem for both the backcountry rider and resort operator. A-Basin miscalculated it last year and had patrons get caught in a slide in late April. The culprit was snow from October. Persistant weak layers form at this time of year that haunt you all season. I guess that is why they call them "persistent".
Every year we have it to some degree but last season was especially scary and deadly.
