Aren't they one of the first 14 that are retail in the state? I know Breck has 1 on Airport rode, one in Frisco, and another in Silverthorne. Guess now I'm going to have to live off my 'medicinal' cocaine sales.
Wow... just saw Breck got 10" today on top of the 7" they reported at 5 am. My New Years Day resolution is to not ride at the Keystone doughnut hole ever again. Should have known better already. FML.
^ Rookie! Also another reason not to ride Keystone so many people have bought the Summit Value pass and have been blacked out at Breck they've been at that shit hole.
I hate myself for it, but I've actually been riding Keystone a fair amount this year (8 days so far), and it has generally been pretty empty. I only went to Breck twice this year and it was a complete cluster fuck both times. Similar to last year. I must just pick the absolute worst days to go, but the majority of the time I go to Breck the lift lines are 20+ Minute waits even in the singles line :dunno:. I don't know if I can handle any more days at Keystone, so I'm going to hit up Breck on Saturday (and possibly Sunday). Here's hoping 3rd times a charm.
Amsterdam is a gray area. Marijuana isn't technically legal there, they just have an official policy of tolerance that essentially makes it damn near legal.
If you're encountering lines at Breck you're doing it wrong. Today was busy only place I waited in line was twice at mid connect on Super 8, only after bushwacking some waist deep pow lines. I'll take a 10 minute wait.
Caused some slough slides today between the wind loading and the dryness. Be careful out there.
I'm pretty sure this went through federal court last year and the US feds said it would acknowledge the CO and wa laws and not prosecute federally. That would mean yes, it is legal.
It is still illegal under federal law. But the state is not going to enforce federal law that is up to them.
At this point, Colorado just needs to cash in. I think in the next couple years we will see more and more states go green. Unless there is some authoritarian snap back from the Feds we are watching the end of marijuana being illegal in the states.
Anybody see the two numbnutts OoB's above chair 8 at the Luv on thurs? They were some lucky motherfuckers.........thought fer sure there was a couple bodies in the debris field.
Seriously? They triggered a slide? I don't know what it is but people are seriously pushing it this year. There is a reason I am not traveling in the alpine right now. It's deadly consequence. The persistent slab is a mother fucker right now. Check out this pic from Jones Pass yesterday.
No one was caught, and that is a good thing. That is not survivable. With any avalanche gear.
Holy crap! That's got to be 10+ ft crown in places. I'd like to see something like that go from the safety of a distant ridge. Glad nobody was caught in that nightmare.
Copper was pretty sweet yesterday. Got a lot of great lines in the back bowls and spent most of the day in the trees. Man...so glad my legs are in shape - cant image how all the one or two times out noobs are feeling today.
On a side note....the morons getting dragged by the t-bar at the top of Copper was astounding. If you cant ride the t-bar you really shouldnt be messing around in the trees and back bowls. I feel so bad for the lifties up there. Dealing with moron after moron. One dude just dragged himself the whole way up.:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
I hate tbars too. It's never a smooth ride for me no matter what but it's a blast watching new riders on it. They should put a spot to eat right next to all tbars just for the entertainment
I'm reminded of the day I went up the T bar at Breck and the guy in front of me decided it would be awesome to scorpion, hit himself in the back of his head, then flounder around in the main line and not move. The whole time I'm on this thing going I'm not getting off to avoid him and I gave him the ultimatum of you can roll to the right or the left but I'm coming through one way or another. He opted to not move and I rolled over the top of him. He was less than pleased.
protip: whilst riding a tbar style lift on a snowboard ask yourself "why does my dumbass have this thing between my legs?"; proceed to place the plate into your armpit or simply hold the goddamn thing in your hand like a ropetow; you may now look like less of a gaper.
That makes a hell of a lot more sense that what I saw folks doing in the video. Thanks for the tip. If it was my first time, I would probably at least watch for someone to go up successfully prior to jumpin in...
The platter at Louise hits one section that's ~30 degrees, I ram that thing up my ass as far as it'll go and be glad that my balls will come out of hiding once I've had a chance to walk it off at the top!
I'm thinking to myself why the fuck would you put that up your ass? just grab that fucker and hold on... we don't have one of those in wa I don't think.
