I know it's early, but damn, we need some snow.

That shit looks like a repeat of last season.

Well at least Breck is being open about it. I had a friend get buried up to his chin at Wolf Creek ski area during that big weekend in November. CAIC took a report but there is no mention of it on the site. The slide was not due to Wolf Creek's carelessnes, they blasted the hell out of the ridge. Someone just found a sweet spot and sent a wall down. Regardless it should be on their site and it is not.

And yes, that persistent weak layer is probably going to be giving us fits through February. Stupid October snows...

Man, you can't please anyone..."where's the snow." "Too much snow!"

Sarcasm of course! I'm headed to breck next week for 12 days, gotta say with my lack of avalanche knowledge and my desire to hit bowls and trees, I'm a little nervous...

Skating too much? There's 1 and only 1 cat track that catches people and that's between 8 and 9. Even then there's a giant hill before it that you just point and go down. You might get stuck coming out of Mustang Bowl but even then that's your own fault the cat track goes down hill and if you point it out of the trees you'll be fine.

Last time I was here was at least 10 years ago. ( except last year when they reopened in April. But with only the one peak open it was hard to get stuck too bad!

It's a totally different mountain I am sure.

I will be in Green Pants, Black Coat, Carbon Bern Helmet on an SL.

If ya see me, Knock me down or something so I can put a face with the BA legend!

They were running the ridge cat and allowing people to drop Tickler or FoD.

Tickler is a pretty short run, its just steep, I just have the willies :dunno:

Seen too much video of shit going and heard of it this year....also the slides on all the bowls inbounds are ongoing and impressive.....

I have alot of confidence in how LUV's ski patrol handles themselves and generally don't rush to open anything. There is just too much bad news lately plus good snow on all the lower shit....../pussy

Have fun living in the bubble you'll become either a gay cowboy or an alcoholic real quick. Towns great to visit but you have to be willing to give up a lot to live there.

It's heavy wind loaded snow out there right now. Anyone traveling out a gate or in the BC be real cautious. I was watching stuff in relatively flat areas break when I would slash it.

Linville I knew about the Avy but everyone I've talked to in town had no clue anyone was caught in it. Which says something if a town this small isn't talking about it.

Got an inch or two of snow at Purg before the lifts closed yesterday. Today is my break day. Even before the snow started I had a blast. Hit the "black" by the 6 person chair at the bottom and was awesome. Until I got to the icy bottom section and slid down on my ass lol. Practiced straight airs in the bottom park. Also got good air off some rollers and lips. I'm really having fun here, despite how small Purg is and how little new snow there is. One of my skier buddies got stopped for speed/jumping so that was interesting too.

Looks like good snow fall and high winds right now. CAIC has posted a special advisory.

Avalanche conditions are scary right now. The new snow and wind is increasing the likelihood you can trigger a large avalanche. While the incoming storm will likely not be enough to push us into HIGH (Level 4) danger, it is getting us closer to that line. Extra caution will be needed for the next couple days, as we test buried weak layers once again. Similar recent loading events have produced some of the largest avalanches we've seen this season. We are recommending you avoid any steep slope that is receiving fresh wind-loading.
Front Range

It's going to be sketch out there. Definitely have well defined safe travel plans if you go outside of the ropes. Not the conditions to wing it in.

Vail was boot deep first thing thins morning, on the groomers. It has dropped an easy foot since 2-3pm. Ridiculous amounts of snow. Hope Vail does the usual report or 4-7". Either way it will take some determined motherfuckers to get here cause the roads are fucked up.
