The wind today was just fucking brutal. But man the snow was so good this morning. Glad everyone went to Vail today, it didn't start to get crowded till around 11. But as there was no definitive timeline on opening up more terrain I just dipped home.
For those going out gates or into the BC heads up it's real wind loaded and unstable. Broke some small things off on little cornice drops today and caused mild slough slides.
Copper was pretty nice today. Lines didnt really start until after lunch. They were doing Av control out back so by the time we got back up there it went from 100% untouched to 100% tracked out. Enchanted was insane...holy fresh knee to waist deep trees. Love copper!
BA..re: the Boat. Wont be a gay cowboy (I hate cowboy boots), and dont anticipate being an alcoholic either, but we were talking it over and outside of the riding season it would be tough to live WAY out there. Prolly just still to Slummit County!
Copper is my favorite mountain in Summit County hands down, by a country mile, as in awesome compared to "ill keep driving", I'm not knocking Breck, but Copper is an amazing mountain, you would not get sick of it in 2 weeks, especially not this year.... It has the most varied and challenging terrain, the vertical on super bee is amazing, its far less crowded than key or breck on any given day. The park gets better every year, Woodward is no joke and kills it.
I agree. I've been to copper over ten times and every time has been the best time of my life. It's not as big as breck but it's the best terrain I've road in Colorado. Which doesn't say much but it really was awesome. It's what makes buying a summit pass depressing. I'm taking my girl to copper at least one day in the next 9 that I'll be there. Can't wait.
It was also where I've met the coolest ski patrol ever that actually guided me to the best terrain for a boarder and gave me a candy bar. Lol. Then met two dudes that are still my friends six years later that also introduced me to the shot ski on the bar in copper. Dude. You just can't put a dollar value on experiences like that.
I should say far less crowded with a * if you stay on the super bee side you can usually avoid lines even on busy days as the entire side of the mountain is "no begginner terrain". It does get busy. Similar tactics work at most resorts, even the ones owned by the giant "V".
Snowing at least 2 inches an hour at my place. Started a little after 7 and looks to be no end in sight till tomorrow. Looks like most of Breck is shut down due to winds though, so tomorrow could be good.
LL is great today. Finding knee deep freshies all over the place, even off chairs 4 & 6. Having a beer at the bar then heading back out for refills. Easy 2" has fallen in the last hour. There is virtually no one here.
Tried to go to the grocery store a few minutes ago. 70 must be a shit show. Couldnt even get near City Market on 6, backed up to the parking area on the lake. Wish these effers went home last night!
Left Winter park at 1, got to Boulder around 3:10.:yahoo: Berthoud pass was slow as hell, but there was 0 traffic that far east on 70. I checked cotrip and it seemed like the west side of the tunnel was turrrrible.
Pretty good day all around. Nice and soft, with free refills all day, but not a blower day by any means. Best part? No lift lines! They opened up some of the chutes on Mary Jane which were awesome. Little sketchy in some spots, but quite soft in others.
Winter Park was pretty sick today. Almost no one there and minimal traffic. Driving up Berthoud pass was pretty sketchy but nothing AWD and a set of snow tires couldn't handle.
Nobody was at Breck today..... empty. So were the fuck did all the traffic come from:blink: Took 3hrs to get back to Denver.
