I've got so much house shit to take care of Snowboarding isn't even on my radar right now. I'm completely fine with waiting until December for the good stuff.
Joel starting to hint that this weekend's storm might be a bust. No signs of consistently colder/snowier weather in sight. Enjoy the beautiful fall weather!
Throwing this out there to see who is interested. I have a potential opportunity to go back to being a boot fitter at a friends shop. How many people that read this thread or know someone in the state of CO would be interested in having me work on their boots?
For sure. Intended to get boots when over at yours anyway. Foot pain to a certain degree is an accepted inevitable normality while snowboarding (reduced) and hiking (unresolved) for me. If you manage to reduce that, I'll get 3 pairs .
Is a week enough time to get "difficult feet" fitted?
Vail pass, There are a couple of zones we plan to film and photo in this winter and this is one of them. Max drop with snow is about 35-40'. This particular area has some really scenic angles to shoot from.....
I was happy to see that most of the snow had melted away.... Ground is pretty well prepped for the snow to start falling, without a big ass weak rotten snow layer on the bottom of it......
Checked opensnow this morning and it looks like Steamboat got about 10". I wonder if making some turns up there tomorrow would be possible? :dunno:
Anyone else getting a little stir crazy waiting for the season to start?:crazy2: If nothing else, I might just end up buying another day lift ticket to Abasin to satiate my need to snowboard.
In other news, Keystone and Copper are still sticking to their planned opening dates. If everything works out, anyone else planning on hitting up Copper for opening day on Friday?
.....

No, but I have a Copper Pass. Won't be up quite that early, but will be up soon enough
I went mountain biking today.. it was cold. All I was thinking about is trying out my new splitboard in the BC in deep snow. That's not totally true, actually.. my MT bike was working great and it was great to get out.
But, I want snow... hard to be patient. Last season made me want it more...
By the way: looking for safety minded BC splitboard partners.
It's colder up here than it was last week and looks to stick around that way for Summit. As said it'll happen when it happens. I blame Vail for pushing to open their resorts earlier this year when what they should be doing is pushing to stay open later with those late season storms.
They are willing to open with 10% of trails available, yet the day they close they'll have 100% open. If you actually looked at their financial numbers I'm sure it makes sense.
I'm guessing end of season it's almost all season passers who don't even buy lunch their so even if people show up it just doesn't pay off much at that point.
Just seems like most of the casuals are chomping at the bit when the season is lurking around the corner, while most have already transitioned to summer time during the late season even though the conditions are almost always better late than early.
That's exactly it. I'm not complaining about the lack of people on late season pow days. I've clocked some insanely amazing May pow days the last few seasons.
Yeah the weather cycle looks like cold may be sticking around, which will bring snow more consistently. I'm antsy to get out and ride but it's not even November yet, and I'll be burned out by April anyway so I can't rush it. It'll be here when it gets here.
Yeah its up on black lakes, another is about 2 miles down from shrine towards red cliff and another about a mile off shrine ridge.
It's definitely hiking and biking time until significant snow falls.... I cleaned up my bike and put it ways 2 weeks ago but pulled it back out.... We have been hiking, playing basketball and gym ratting.

Yep! I went for a hike on Saturday and the weather could not have possibly been better. It was the perfect tempture. I'm as excited for big snow fall as the rest of you, but I can't complain about the amazing weather we had over the weekend.
