You know all people who lack any measurable skill are not completely the same right? The ones from KS are the ones NOT wearing ponies tall tees. Don't confuse me for a Texan either, I don't ride in jeans and they're the ones too loaded to load the lift... Yes the falling all looks the same, but I promise I'll get better this year, at least at falling, lol.

Anyway, I haven't been to Steamboat before and I'm thinking about going at least one day there... Definitely worth the drive from WP right?

Since taking my new job I haven't stepped foot into downtown Denver and I don't really plan on that changing. Hell, about the only time I get east of the Golden area these days is driving to the airport.

If my wife didn't work here in Evergreen, I would've already talked her into getting off of the Front Range entirely. As long as I'm within a reasonable drive of the airport I'm good as far as my job is concerned. I consider 3 hours or so to be "reasonable".

Alright fella's need to pick your brain on some stuff as I'm currently working on a new app and CO is going to be one of the beta testing grounds. So fuck the forum rules of doing a video as it's clear I've been around long enough for you to know I do answer questions on here.

Purpose of the app: This is a meet up (not ride share as CO law fucks you with that currently) to go snowboard/ski. Currently we're toying with either subscription based or advertising based. For the subscription model you are allowed 2 (tentative number) of interactions a month to connect with someone to meet up. The other side of the app is a couch share opportunity. So for those that know the ride back and forth from Denver sucks finding a couch to crash on for either beer, weed, cash, dinner, etc. etc. The user that is looking for a meet up/couch share can then rate the person after their experience. It will have ratings for various criteria.

What I need to know from you guys:

1: iPhone or Droid?

2: Do you actively look to meet up with people to snowboard with?

3: Would you couch surf on a random persons couch?

4: Age

5: Have you ever previously met up with someone from the Internet to ride with them? Did you carpool or meet at the mountain?

6: Have you ever been trapped at the resorts due to road closures and had to sleep in your car or get a hotel room? Would a couch share have been a better solution?

7: Do you prefer subscription base costing $.99 a month or $5.99 a year be too much? Or would you prefer targeted in app ads?

8: What would you look for in an app like this if you would use it?

9: Would you use this app if you had to pay for it initially or would you prefer a free version?

Thanks guys, I await the comical responses as well as the serious ones.

Tourist point of view:
1: Android
2: Y
3: N
4: 36
5: Y/N
6: Y/ N
7-9: As tourist, I’d be interested in such an app, but more in the “meet” than the “couch” part. A free trial version for limited time or limited interactions wouldn’t work for a tourist who’s there only one week. I rather see a free “look and feel” trial version where you have unlimited access in time, but can’t contact anyone without the full version.

Yes, I’d pay some bucks for a good app… but if >1 apps exist for a similar purpose, I’d get the free trial version. Whether I then buy the full version depends on how nice the first appearance was. You know about the short attention span… first impression and usability at first glace are key. Say, there’s app A which would have great content, but no filter function and a cumbersome design, and app B with invitingly design, good filter functions but shitty content... It needs some time to detect that B may be nice to look at but is actually shit. But by then, I may have already bought it, cause initially it looked fine, while I may never will discover the good content of A cos I won’t even have a closer look at it.

- Absolutely don’t use white script on black background. It makes one’s eyes bleed… and outdoors, on a bright day, it’s non readable, even on the huge screen of a Samsung Notes (I can’t read the Ski Tracks app on a bluebird day).
- Easy to use filter function. Variables as location, riding preferences, age range, … should be given with radio button/check box to enable to filter for them. Free text is nice to have a closer look at someone, but initially it’s important to filter for “candidates”.

Never happened but I would couch share(I have a couch to share and live at the resort)
I would take the free option with adds, no fee.
I would want to see someone's FB profile before opening up my couch to them or sleeping on their couch. I'd rather sleep in my truck than in a frat house....
Free

What I need to know from you guys:

1: iPhone

2: Do you actively look to meet up with people to snowboard with?
Not really but it depends.

3: Would you couch surf on a random persons couch?
Yes, but I have a 13 YO daughter who I wouldn't feel comfortable allowing to do the same.

4: Age
42

5: Have you ever previously met up with someone from the Internet to ride with them? Did you carpool or meet at the mountain?
Nope

6: Have you ever been trapped at the resorts due to road closures and had to sleep in your car or get a hotel room? Would a couch share have been a better solution?
Nope

7: Do you prefer subscription base costing $.99 a month or $5.99 a year be too much? Or would you prefer targeted in app ads?
In app ads

8: What would you look for in an app like this if you would use it?
User friendly type of app. Way to make sure we aren't crashing on Ted Bundy's couch.

9: Would you use this app if you had to pay for it initially or would you prefer a free version?
Free
