I know it's early, but damn, we need some snow.

Colorado | OpenSnow

That shit looks like a repeat of last season.

Glad that we've had a few days of continuous snow. Beaver Creek has had 2 feet in the last 8 days. These places are starting to open more terrain with the new snow, and I'm just hoping that the cold temps stick around as well as the "pattern" that now has CO getting some snow (instead of the previous pattern that was pushing everything North).

I was at Keystone on Sunday (I wanted to go somewhere else, but was overruled) and it wasn't too bad. Super cold though... my face was freezing. I need a bandana / balaclava or something.

Argo - what type of pole does your buddy use in those Vail Daily videos? GoPole or just a broken ski pole, or something else?

He just uses a broken ski pole with a home made mount.

This morning was awesome. 4-5 fresh laps on top of chair 3 and 4. Probably 8" up on top 6" mid mountain and base of the mountain.... The whole front side should open this weekend depending on this storm and most likely game creek from the looks of it.

Yeah I figured breck was definitely a no-go this weekend. Trying to decide between just making the shorter drive to keystone or abay or getting up super early and driving out to vail. Or with snow daze going on at vail would beaver creek be a better option?

It just looks like from that video vail has some nice conditions and decent terrain open now. I'm getting tired of lapping the same stuff at keystone.

Alright so assuming I am going to Vail or BC what time should I get to those places to avoid any crazy crowding and parking messes? I usually get to Key or Abay 30 mins to an hour before first chair so that I can avoid all the crowds and traffic. Will that be good enough at Vail or BC?

Breckenridge is the shittiest mountain in Summit County. It's nicknames are Breckenfridge and Breckenflat. Face masks must make the shops lots of money. The parking sux, unless you know what your doin and I aint giving away my secrets to not parking in their far away free lots. They have a stupid gondola. Keystone's gondola goes to places that are ridable. If you park in Brecks free lots, you have to take a bus to the gondola then take the gondola, and then you will have to take another chair cause the gondola just goes to the base (lame). They have a clusterfuck of lifts.

Breckenridge gets more snow, but it blows off the mountain anyway. Breckenridge has the best roller in Summit County, but last season they put a no jumping sign on it and guarded it with yellow jackets:mad:

There is kinda a Breckenridge hatred over at Keystone. I don't hate Breckenridge, but I like Keystone way better. The thing I hate about Keystone is the changes they have made to make it "kid friendly". They are marketing against their own customers. Years ago they use to be more fun and would have events geared towards their actual customer base. I miss the old days with the green gondola cabins and The Green Lantern.

I would like to point out Keystone has not put up that stupid traffic fence on schoolmarm yet. So less dumb stuff is happening over here.

Keystone is for gapers all you need to know. Plus they have Craig "No snowboarders on my mountain" Simson.

As far as going to Vail that's generally always busier than BC. BC park in the Bear lot hop the bus to the village or the landing depending on which is open and bam go from there. Parking has never been an issue for me there. Vail it's pay to park regardless.

You can still park on the north frontage road by city market or passed the fire house in west vail and hop the bus for free. 1 hour early is plenty for first chair. Vail definitely has more terrain open that BC or keystone. Game creek and chair 11 should be open by Saturday too.

You can just park in the City Market lot all day? How many spots are there/does it fill up quickly on weekdays at all?

How often does the bus come btw?

Granted if I decide to take you up on your tent offer none of that will be necessary ... but I may have to spend some time exploring Vail and Breck for the "secret" spots since I like being able to run to my car if needed.

All ya gotta do is outsmart the Vail parking garages. Park in the garage, then at the end of the day walk through, grab another ticket then use that one to get out of the garage.

In Breck, just park in the free lots and use the free shuttles. They run so often it costs you 15 minutes at most.
I didn't realize there aren't people working the booths...that makes things much much easier

I have only been to Vail 3 times and still knew where to park for free. You can see where everyone parks near City Market when you pass Vail on the way to Beaver Creek. I prefer Beaver Creek over Vail. Last season I only used 2 of my days off my Epic Local Pass. The previous season I used all of them at Beaver Creek. I would see where everyone parks at Vail when I would pass through there. It's pretty obvious. Last season I parked there with no issues and I was not there early.
