My wife and I are headed out Sunday. It looks like no snow next week with all of it arriving before we get there.
My wife is an intermediate skier and I am advanced snowboarder. Last year at Breck she enjoyed mostly blues. I did pretty much everything there. We are staying in Park City and I have purchased PCMR (Monday) and Canyons (Tuesday) on Liftopia, but we are planning the rest on the fly. My thoughts are possibly doing Snowbird by myself mid week and then hitting up Brighton and Snowbasin again with the wife. Which resort is least crowded on Friday-Saturday (weekend crowds)? Or should I skip Snowbird and hit up Snowbasin again by myself? |

Yo, I'll be there Feb 6-10 and staying in Sandy, UT; planning on hitting up Snowbird and Solitude for sure, with a Saturday trip up to Snowbasin or PowMow to avoid the crowds. Maybe your wife would enjoy PowMow... I've never been, but have heard there's less steeps with more of a cruiser feel to the runs. Depends alot on snow snow too of course.

So far...she really wants to hit up snowbasin. It looks like Monday-PCMR, Tues-Snowbasin, Weds-Snowbird(me) Spa(her)....then figure out Thurs-Sat based on any new snow and temps.
I think we would both enjoy Brighton (Thurs or Frid), then repeat Snowbasin or PowMow on Sat to avoid crowds as you mentioned. I just watched a Snowbird/Mineral Basin vid....just WOW! |

Sounds good - though I'd hit Snowbasin then the bird then PC Get the fresh pow while it's still there - park city gets nothing from our storms - Put it this way, snowbasin received 3 feet in 3 days, snowbird has 25" in the last 48hrs and Park City Mountain Resort....3 inches in 48 hours... Of course Solitude and Brighton you can find fresh snow weeks after a storm if you know where to look. But you plan sounds good. Check Wasatch Snow Forecast for future forecasts during your stay. |

Okay.....done PC (X2), Snowbasin, Snowbird and Brighton (today). Brighton was the only fresh snow all week. I am watching the overnight snow and either hitting up Brighton or Snowbasin for our last day. Anyone know which gets more crowded on Saturdays?
I haven't had a lift line all week! ......got spoiled. |

i wish i joined this forum last year when i went to utah for the first time. sounds like you got some great advice. the only thing i can say that if you like riding in the park stay away from snowbird, i can't believe they don't have a park. Canyons have a pretty good one but it's only one trail

Well, our week is up. We will be back next year. Things I learned:
1) Stay in PC, but don't ski here unless a big storm comes through. 2) Snowbasin, Snowbird and Brighton are amazing and all different in their own right. 3) Brighton would be my goto if I was local. $58 for a ticket is a steal! 4) RENT A SUV and enjoy! 5) VRBO has some great deals on condos for cheaper than hotels. 6) Bring Ptex and diamond stones if you do much back county stuff. :-) |
