I went to Vail today. I was gonna go to Beaver Creek, but when I looked at the snow reports, Vail had a lot more snow.
The traffic was scary bad and the roads were slick. I got there later than I anticipated. I headed directly to the back part of the mountain. A lot of people were there and it was tracked out. However I came across waist deep freshies over where that rope tow is. I was able to find a lot of deep fresh snow at the bowls. It was covered good and I did not hit rocks. The rocks and poor coverage are over by the lifts. It was soooo good to finally ride in powder past my knees. It's been over a year for me. Vail was fantastic today despite my later arrival. FYI, waist deep for me is less snow for most people cause I am 5'2.This was my first day at Vail this season. Glad I payed extra for the 10 days. |
