We’re flipping the switch for climate change!

Boreal Mountain Resort has signed up for Earth Hour in 2009. On Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, we will turn out non-essential lighting and join millions across the globe in sending a strong message to our national and world leaders that we must take action now on global climate change. Since Boreal has to keep the night skiing lights on, Boreal will be flipping the switch on all non-essential lighting for the entire day.

Good luck with it. It's a worthy cause. We could do a lot to help climate change if we just turn the lights out more often or shut the computer down overnight or even watch a little less TV.

Ugh.....the appropriate action would be to shut-down the Lights and Lifts at 8:30, that's the point of Earth Hour....stop using all power (essential power would be for life-support).

The whole point of Earth Hour is to actually sacrifice life's luxuries(income is a luxury) rather than provide an opportunity to market your brand/company.

Sure. But name one company that's ever taken part in fighting climate change WITHOUT using it as a platform for making themselves look good. No company will ever willingly and unselfishly take part in an environmental cause.

Agreed, but it is the Sacrifice that I was more referring to. If they're going to sign-on and tout participation, then at least participate with genuine gusto. Hell, sell T-shirts that say "I Blacked-Out at Boreal Earth Hour" for all I care, just actually participate in the hour. It isn't meant to be convenient. Otherwise, Earth Hour would be at 6:00am, local time.
