Talking Mammoth Bound!

On our way to Mammoth. Anyone headed up for the weekend?

Heavy rain coming out of LA. Sketchy on the fog coming to Palmdale. Clears up at Palmdale.

What about New Years?

Right on! Don't know which direction you are coming from, but give yourself some extra time, some gnarly shit is expected tomorrow. We'll be up through monday eve, hit me up if interested in riding.

Travel well and be safe!

I just got back this afternoon. Thursday was a lot of ice and wind, but Friday morning was awesome as 4+ inches fell overnight. Be careful riding off the groomed trails as there are still tons of rocks just below the surface, and the cover still gets thin in some spots as the wind blows it down to the dirt and ice.

The roads outside of town were fine when I left, but I'm not sure what it will look like after that. Hope it's not too crowded.

Update! Snow didn't really hit until we entered Mammoth, then lots of people chaining up. Today was gnarly + awesome ! Made it up and down the hill just fine, but lots of struggles during the afternoon...a shitload of people stuck. We did not end up needing to use the chains, but alot of cars did and alot of people were stuck! Since only Main lodge is open right now, the road up and down was super sketch.

Once you got up to the mountain...visibility was very poor. At the base of Broadway, you could see a few lift pillars ahead of you, but at the top, we could only see 10 feet in front of us. The storm continued to gain strength throughout the day, even the die hard had to call it quits. Later on in the evening, the storm knocked out the power to about half the city. Bigger establishments with generators seemed to be okay. The outage lasted from 2.5 to 3 hours. But all this aside...the fresh powder was worth it!
