Hiya

Is anyone going or has been to the London Ski & Snowboard show? Basically I have my first board but need to kit out on boots and bindings and wanted to know if usually a show like this is worth going to for gear?

I know there are tons of exhibitors but I just want to make sure this is not a quick sell and am actually going to get some real advice before I decide or should I just head straight to the shops?

don't know about london but the one in LA, skidazzle, was horrible... seems like the same deal. if you never went, I guess it is good to get familiar with things, but there was nothing but old overpriced crap 2-3 seasons old. this is another country though, maybe english consumers won't be as retarded as the consumers here. when people say "support local" definitely doesn't apply to LA.

Try on as many boots as you can...and take notes as to brand and size. Start by getting your foot size figured out...use wiredsport's info. At the show you might get to try on a ton of boots. It will take several hours...have fun. BTW don't buy...but you might discover who has a good boot fitter and who has a good selection of boots. Ask the reps who they personally would use for a bootfitter.

I last went to the Ski and Snowboard Show when it was still at Earl's Court, and I'll be at this year's one on the Saturday.

If it's a repeat then you'll have an opportunity to try out loads of boots, get ripped off with the food and become bored of the show by 2 hours. Definitely use the opportunity to try out loads of gear, get an idea of what suits you and then get it cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks for letting me know your experience. I have been in two minds about going, hence why I have not purchased a ticket yet. I have been to unrelated exhibitions in the past and do find the experience dull.

I probably will just go to different stores instead for a fitting and try a few things on before deciding.
