Heading to Fernie March 16-18 or so
 

My girlfriend and I are probably going to head down for a few days. It'd be fun to meet up with any members that may be around that weekend. :dunno:

Damn, you'll have to let me know how the snow is! My girlfriend is getting laser eye surgery the week before cause she can't stand boarding with glasses anymore. I did it in 2008 for the same reason, and this Fernie trip is going to be her celebration party! lol :D

Have a great trip! What other resorts you hitting? I hear Big White in Montana is another good one...

The only other definite is going to be Whitefish, MT. We may make a few more day trips while we're there.

Incidentally, I also ride with glasses and it's a pretty big pain in the ass. I'm paranoid about getting lasik though. The thought of someone touching my eye with a laser freaks me out.

I'm the one sort of pushing her to get it done. I rode with glasses for about 15 years, used contacts for a while but they started bugging me. Wish I had done the surgery earlier, it's one of the best things I've ever done! :thumbsup:

She keeps getting nervous about it, and I tell her that the surgery itself takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. Each actual procedure under the laser is less than 60 seconds. Not sure if it's a tax write off in the states, but here she'll get about $900 back from her taxes, and another $750 paid from our combined benefits. So out of pocket only about $1000-$1200 and that's for the option with the lifetime warranty. I know it sounds weird buying a warranty for your eyes. :eek:

So, now I'm sitting in Kalispell Airport in MT. I ended up making a day trip to Fernie on Wednesday. The whole day was pretty much a waste unfortunately.

It was raining in the parking lot when we showed up. But, luckily it was snowing HARD at the peak. Unfortunately, about 2 hours after catching my first chair winds picked up fast, knocking down trees (saw one come down waiting in the lift line) and knocking people over as well. So, they shut down all but two lifts on the mountain. The powder that was near the top soon was covered in rain and then quickly froze an hour later when a cold front came though turning the place into an icy chunky parking lot. Couple that with the high winds and we called it a day around 2pm.

I did have a blast in MT though.

Awe that sucks. We're heading there today, supposed to be snowing today and all day tomorrow, bluebird on sunday. Nice thing is, no wind and mild temps predicted so it'll be almost spring boarding weather!
