Default SBF.COM Summer meet on Mt. Hood

I brought this up in the main thread and it got kicked around a little bit. I am trying to determine if there is a significant interest in a mid summer (July) meet to do some summer shredding at Timberline on Mt. Hood this summer. Along with riding, there are lots of off hill activites to persue such as wind surfing and kite boarding in Hood River on the Columbia, white water rafting on the Deschutes River and even a day trip out to the Oregon coast at Cannon Beach. Hiking around Multnomah falls and touring the Ape Caves of Mt. St. Helens.

Cabins can be rented at Mt. Hood Village in Welches, Oregon and a van can be rented to haul everyone to and from Timberline as well as to other activities. One thought also could be a group camp out near the mountain. Ideas, thoughts?

Hmmm. sounds fun. i have to see what flight prices look like that that time of year. might be undoable depending on airfare tho as if i come out i'd like to bring the wifey with me. flying into portland is the easiest i assume?

I was acutally thinking about throwing something up for a summer meet in the EC. camping or something as well. maybe i still will.

You should...I think with rising fuel costs and the inevitable rising ticket prices, regional meets may be the way to go for most people. I can afford to get to Colorado for example, but not the airfar to an east coast meet as much as I would like to.

I'll be at hood in june. I'm double plus fucked all of July for trips though. It's going to be a nasty month at work. I'm talking working full weekends, 50 hour regular weeks etc etc.
