If you want to get into some grassroots events that hit on all sorts of snow lovers, I would suggest participating in some of the avy jams that happen in the fall. The Colorado avalanche institue (CAIC), Utah Avalanche Center, and Sierra Avalanche Center all have events to raise funds for their forecasts for the season. Those are some ofthe bigger events.
For small guys, Friends of Berthoud Pass does low cost avalanche education and does a fund raiser to pay for the professionals that give the fall clinics before the on snow dates. The Powder Whore guys do fund raisers for avalanche centers during the touring premiers of their Tele movies. Same thing with the Schralptown crew. All of those events need sponsors to some degree. Some more than others. |
