Since I didn't have the chance to ride at all last week I had to get some in today, so I went to one of the smaller local hills. It was like a frickin' obstacle course out there! People of no ability at all on all level trails, just falling over left and right. Really gave me a workout avoiding collisions. Except that this one run down a nice blue trail I was getting close to the bottom and see this little girl on skis standing still right next to the trail. Right as I get ready to go by she moves out right in front of me. No time to completely avoid her and I hit her ski tips and supermaned it down the rest of the hill. That was a little painful, but at least I didn't kill a kid! Still looking forward to riding tomorrow, though!

Plattekill was pretty sweet. They had 3" of fresh snow on top of some hard pack, and nothing was groomed. I went down Powder Puff to warm up, and then started bombing Sundown and Shredded Mozzarella. I learned to link turns, and I barely ever catch edge now, which is awesome. The only bad thing that happened to me was my pants ripped all the way through along the seam right next to the fly all the way to the top of the inseam. I got some duct tape from the shop and patched it up, and it worked for a little while until the tape came off on one side. I hope Orage has a good warranty or hopefully the shop I bought them from can replace them, because I don't think pants should rip the second day you're wearing them.

Well we should be good to go. Its snowing now. I dont think we will see much accumulation out of this weak system but theres a ton of great snow on the ground

Matt and I will be there between 9:30 and 10. Twinplanks as well. Most likely we will meet by the ticket booth. Call or text my cell when u get there. Look for the bright orange gloves.

Nice looking snow, but it's not steep enough!

Actually it gets pretty steep as u go down. There are about 3 ravines and a few ridges and depending on where u end up those get steep. Especially if you have to cross one

It is fun but it does take a toll on you, especially if you get stuck and have to dig yourself out. Once u get to the road is when u feel the exhaustion

Yeah, those ravine areas can be a pain if you didn't expect them. And unstrapping into several feet of powder can make it a bit difficult to find a place to strap back in! Good stuff, though.
