Good luck man, friends have helped run the TGAK event and go every year, but I hear it's morphed into this crazy thing that it never was when it started similar to 'Burning Man' word got out fast and more and more people that are their just for the hype of it all and you get more people coming that might not be there for the same reasons as that core group that created it. Some maybe shouldn't be there at all.. but hopefully everything works out for the best and the event holds it's vibe years to come. It's just getting a bit crazy that's all. I've been trying to go for the past 2 winters but now I think I'm just going to save my money and jump on board with friends in some other crazy area, possibly Haines or Chili. We'll see. Hope you have fun!
What? $50k to charter for a week? I guess I'm in the wrong line of work...

I don't think most people at Tailgate are doing heli runs. Most of the heli people are staying at lodges or hotels with package deals, and if you're doing that, don't come when all the Tailgate people are tracking the place all to hell. There are cheaper options than helicopters, including snowcats, snowmachines (taxi service and fully guided sled boarding missions), and split boards. I see helis dropping people on peaks they could have skinned to in a couple hours. It's kind of ridiculous.

Got our tickets...ended up with 4 ppl going which is a good number. We're getting an RV and staying there on site. Still unsure if we'll rent sleds or just wing it when we get there. May end up doing an ad-hoc cat day, heli day and paying for sled bumps from one of the taxi services. Heard of one that offers 3 bumps for $100. Not too bad. Gotta get the RV next and then will figure out the rest as we get closer. F-in stoked though.
