Canadian Rockies Meet - 2013/2014?

Just wondering if there's any interest in a meet? Thinking just a one day thing somewhere for the locals. I know I'll be boarding with a few of you anyway, but maybe it'd be fun to invite all to come out and join us? Maybe we'd even get our resident Alberta moderator out from Edmonton?!? :yahoo:

The trouble I see with a meet is:

1) We're all too prissy, and if the powder isn't perfect that day, people would bitch. So best to plan last minute.

2) We're all too opinionated about the hills we have (every one of them in the rockies is better than 95% of the rest of the hills in the world), so picking a specific hill would be tough. I could see Louise, Sunshine, Fernie or Kicking Horse as options: With Louise and Sunshine being the most likely options due to proximity to Calgary. Que the Louise vs. Sunshine debate...

That said, I've been on a few meets, school trips, etc. and always had a good time meeting new people and drinking new beer. It could be fun! :yahoo:

Thoughts?!? :dunno:

Better yet. Lets have a pre-shred event somewhere central. Lets get together for beers in Calgary asap. Who is in?
Sounds good. I wouldn't plan too far in advance, it's almost better to not be a pow day (remember: no such thing as friends on pow days). You know me, I'll debate at length about which hill is better, but that only counts when we're talking about season passes, etc. For a one day meet, I really don't care which hill. I would pick one of the ones closer though instead of kicking horse, might get more people if it's not a big trek.
K, cool guys... For those that may be reading this but haven't responded yet: What hill would you like to go to? I think the 4 of us are probably split down the middle Louise/Sunshine.

Also, I'm still thinking a board prep day pre-season is in order. How about this weekend? Arsenal, you hosting? :D I won't have the new ironing board, but all the rest to do. Saturday night is good for me if it works for anybody else?!?

Why don't we meet up in Airdrie at the Toad and Turtle Friday night? I can drive ***Unnamed forum cranky guy*** and the gang.
Fixed it for ya! :giggle:

I'm good with that too, I do need to tune all our gear, and once the irons hot I don't mind tuning 10 boards instead of 4... Want to hit up my house of toad and turtle first?!? Anything works for me!

Well everybody let me know what the plan is. I need to tune all our boards and want to do it early to get STOKED! Once the iron is warm I don't mind tuning many boards. They are race ready tunes as I'm used to working on ironing boards! :yahoo:

Don't joke man.

Anyways, I'll be in Calgary Nov 7th... if the hills open on the 8th maybe we can make opening day somehow, whether thats the meet or not w/e I'm just saying I'll be down that way.

*In otherwords everyone should drop what they are doing and plan around me.

Rode Castle today.

It should be awesome tomorrow, it was getting dumped on today

I went down through some sparse steep trees by some little lookout thing, completely untouched everywhere. Was pretty awesome! Top of the red chair was fresh tracks every run!

Fuck me though. It takes FOREVER to get to the top with those antique chairs. I think they turned the speed down even more since there was quite a few kiddos there for the holidays. :dunno:

It's like Powderhorn Ski resort in Colorado.
