Default Lib TRS w/ Horsepower

I've been riding Mervin boards since my DK 153 from when I was like 15, and I just don't ever want to ride anything else. I picked up a TRS w/ Horsepower (it's a midseason release) and it's just unreal.

New XC2 shape maintains pop but I can still lay turns down. The basalt (HP) fires you back through the arc of your turns and really lets you accelerate through the transition. Coupled with Mag, this might be my new favorite board of all time. I pretty much only ride the East, and this is an awesome complement for the (typically) buttcheeks conditions.

I highly recommend this to anybody who's on the intermediate-advanced level. The $700 pricetag is moderately high -- but hey, that's the price you pay for a dope, handcrafted-in-the-damn-USA deck.

I'm not sure where you got the MSRP of $700... but it's a bit less.

I've ridden TRS boards before. Love the feel, love how the ride... hate how they are the only board in this camber/rock profile and are limited to just extruded base choices and moderate waist widths.

$740 in Canadian dollars.

I got one a few weeks ago and have been meaning to post some impressions.
Absolutely love the new XC2 profile!
I wasn't terribly fond of the C2 on the previous generation TRS. It worked on the TRice well, but I found the softer flexing TRS provided less feedback/control in C2.

XC2 improves on this impressively IMO.
I also ride a Banana Magic and find the XC2 is closer to this than to the previous C2, but even more stable than the enhanced BTX profile on the Magic.

My new ideal would be XC2 profile on a stiffer board with the aggressive side cut of the Banana Magic.
Time for an e-mail to Mike Olsen.

Toss on a UHMW sintered base and I'd simply just have to give Mervin my money

Wouldn't that be a gnu Danny kass 155 or 158 at 6.5 and 7 stiffness and 25.3 and what 25.8 waist width? Respectively .

I wonder which is stiffer the 155 gnu kass or ns ripsaw 156? More pop? And yes I read the goodride review on ripsaw , but that was comparing the xc2 on tps not gnu kass .

If that's the case, especially with the waist width of 25.8 on the 158... that may catch my interest. I give zero shits about Danny Kass though...

EDIT: Meh... Magnetraction .5 sucks. Had it on my Phoenix Lando and it might as well not be there at all.

Jesse, you sound like the perfect customer for the Super Banana. Go find it online. They are on sale now too, so you can pick one up for about 480 or so. Sintered base, same flex as a TRS, horsepower, etc.

I wanted this board pretty bad for a while, but still think it will be too close to my Rice. But if I didn't have a Rice, I'd buy the Super Banana right now.

I don't recall it having wider waist widths. I'm only a 10.5 boot, but with the Nike ZF1's I'm definitely getting toe drag on most standard width boards. I wish there were more true midwides pushing 25.65 or so.

Amen brother!
I was very disappointed with the edge hold on the Attack Banana.
I would keep mine otherwise...
