I agree the boards are weaker than average. Mine got a split that propogated a long way compared to a board with fibreglass, plastic top sheet and steel edge.

I actually have found mine to be surprisingly weak too. I didn't get major damage like you, but strands keep ripping along the edge and there is a small chunk missing, exposing the fibers. That was after like 3 days of use on blues, never hit any rocks or anything. I'm not sure if it's something that should be repaired. Mine is a TRS, without the bio-plastic topsheet.

Wow. Thanks guys. These are exactly what the sides of mine look like too.

EMT ive got the exact same as yours on my nose where the edge would normally be on the base/bottom side. It was getting worse as ice got in it. That was from a ski edge just from contact in the lift queue.

Im not overly precious about my boards but I don't think they should be looking like thisafter a few days. Especially as they're not low-end. Mine £630 (GBP), whereas my old burton custom was showing less damage and holding up better after 4 years and was only $450 (USD) - which is half as much.

I'll keep you posted about what LT say about mine and the softer top sheets

I only have experience with one Lib in my group, and it got beat to shit really quick. cruising the piste too.

Im not precious either, a snowboard is a tool for me to tear down a mountain but like you said it just happens way too easily on libs. Mine had like 3 days on it when that happened. I will just epoxy it back down.

What concerns me is if someone boards or skis over the top of it, it's going to peel like an orange.

Haha, same to me .., I only rode it ONE on blue trail, nothing serious , no jumb , I sold it the next day .., hope they make better quality board ,,, but just the same

i happen to like the ride of Mervin's decks, but I also agree that not having steel around the tip and tail sucks..my Gnu DK has a bunch of top sheet splits and cracks where normally the steel edge wouldve protected it..It has less days than my Evo and considerably more damage to the tip and tail.
My friend bought a Gnu Carbon Credit and believe me, he is barely able to make it down the mountain, let alone beat the deck up...and yet, after his 2nd run, he had a similar crack in the tip of his board. Totally bummed him out cause he was really stoked on his new deck.
I was debating an LT board for next season but I think im gonna stick with NS... I already know I love the camber profile and it's held up exceedingly well. The better I've gotten, the more I beat the crap out of it, the better it actually feels.

Are the boards you mention above the same bio beans / balsalt surface?

I spoke with the jus at LT. They're going to replace my board because of the nose break/crease. I said I don't want another horse power (bio bean top sheet) as I don't trust their strength. So I'm getting a normal skunk ape (not the horse power).

They (LT) said they haven't heard or had any feedback that the top sheets are softer or more easily damaged than a normal board.

I guess if we don't bring it to their attention in numbers they'll not know. I'd suggest - even if you're not looking at a replacement - to contact them with your experience. Their customer service has been amaZing so I'm sure they'll listen to us

actually, both boards im talking about have normal top sheets..the carbon credit is a glossy top sheet, and the DK i have is from 2009..full rockered. its a BTX deck. It was pretty mint before I used it, and I think I only put maybe 4 or 5 days on it before I got my evo and the DK has been hanging on my wall ever since.
