Default Review request: 2013/2014 LibTech Billy Goat

I was hoping to get some info on the new C3 profile Billy Goat. I've seen a review or two on the web but it's hard to gauge if the reviewer is biased or not. I rode a cambered Palmer Carbon Circle II for many years but with the camber boards becoming fewer and far between I decided to buy a LibTech T. Rice towards the end of last season. I got it out a few times and it seems great but I'm still thinking hard about the new Billy Goat.

As you probably know, rode the 159 split c2 BG last year but did not take the opportunity to demo a c3...just because at the merv demo tent talking to the guys they said it was a lot like the c2 but with more of a traditional camber feel....doh...so I figured why bother...already have 3 very good camber boards and have been riding camber for years...and will continue to ride camber on camber days. That being said...love the goat...loves to charge the fall line...got to be aggressive with it...and then it becomes fun. Compared to cambered, and not comparing the c2 profile, the most noticeable is the torsional looseness...which imo makes it love to charge the fall line...loves to twist and turn in the fall line (not so much traversing the fall line...slight tendency to washout compared to a torsionally stiff camber). Thus I'd imagine with the c3 profile slightly less agile and slightly more stable for attacking packed/groomed when comparing the c2 vs c3 goat.

Though, if money was not a factor and if I didn't already have 3 good cam decks, I'd gladly buy a solid 156 c3 goat for riding around inbounds.

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I still have my Carbon Circle II - which is still in pretty good shape - but the Goat sure sounds a lot like it from an aggressiveness point of view. If I hadn't gotten such a good deal on my T.Rice at the end of last season I would have waited, oh well.

I own last years goat and I love it, I ride in all conditions on the ice coast and it truly floats in powder. I even played in the park a little with it. It has very little flex because its a 165!

Couple quick points, and not to knock on you as they are the same company, but Gnu makes the Goat not Lib. That being said C3 is really just camber. The Gnu Beast uses it as well. They say there's some reverse in the center but that's just because Mervin has billed itself as a reverse camber company. The dip in the center is almost unnoticeable. If you want camber and magnetraction c3 is about as perfect as it gets. If you want any form of rocker stay away (so camber lovers like me can have them all!!! ).
