Completely agree, but its b/c they are owned by the same group that owns Copper and Whistler (Intrawest). On the flipside though it is the best place in the mid-Atlantic to ride, and has one of the coolest villages on the east coast, definitely in the mid-Atlantic. Its like a mini-Copper mountain really, cool $$$ village, and somewhat segregated runs on the mountain. I like the western territory b/c there are only black runs over there and they have the high speed quad. 1500 vertical feet with no blues or greens around or running through them and serviced by a dedicated HS quad makes for a good day.

Western is pretty fun when the season hits high gear to open all the trails, otherwise it's jammed with everyone on one run. The village is pretty high-end/ritzy as far as resorts go, but again, comparably higher prices. But that's what pregaming is for, right?

Western territory is the spot. Cupp is my favorite trail at Snowshoe... speed and rolling hits make me a happy boy.

I found Silvercreek to be absolutely empty and a blast. Some great runs there.

Love Silvercreek at night... I have some day footage at Silvercreek somewhere... I'll try to find it.

Has anyone seen any opening dates yet in the area? I would hope they would start making snow soon, but these temps are too high I would think

Snowshoe is targeting 11/24. They have been making snow for a week or two, and have gotten 3-5 natural during the same period. I think they are expecting more later this week too.

Hmm. If it wasn't a 5 hour drive I would consider going next week.
