US Winter Forecast: Cold, Snow to Seize Northeast; Wintry Blasts to Slick South

Just saw this. We can at least hope to expect another season close to what we saw last year around here, according to them. I really hope so. Can't wait. Hit me up sometime if you still have my number.

Hopefully El Nino kicks in and we get another great winter.

So, I am starting to believe the long term forecast. Halloween snow storm on the way. Maybe snowshoe will open up pretty soon.

I would love to get some early turns in but if they didn't open after Sandy gave them 2+ feet then I doubt they will get it going before thanksgiving. I hope the forecast pans out

Yeah this isn't supposed to drop any significant snow in Wva as far as I've heard. It's going up to the upper 70s/low 80s here in va today and tomorrow, so the ground won't be cold enough to support much if any accumulation. I'm hoping to make it out there Thanksgiving weekend if Massanutten and Wintergreen don't open early like they did last year. Another warm spell for the beginning of November after this chilly weekend. I wish the cold would stick around.

Yeah, by soon I meant hopefully before Thanksgiving this year. It is a good sign though. Looks like it might accumulate at some of the resorts up north.

At least it is going to feel nice for a few days down here. Perfect for my big bonfire this weekend. I am sick of this warm weather.

Oh believe me I hope so too! This weekend is going to be lovely compared to the next couple of days! But I don't think the pattern is going to change soon enough for early openings. Models are showing around November 22 there is a shift with average to above average temps the first 2/3 of the month. Hopefully things will change...and the weather will prove the models wrong.

Public Winter 14-15 Forecast

I just saw another forecast on this site and they are also calling a good forecast from December on. But I guess I won't keep my hopes up for a good early season at Snowshoe. Probably going to just plan a week out west early to mid December like I have the last few years. It is usually hardly worth the drive and gas money to Snowshoe that time of year for me...but I will probably go a few times anyway as soon as they get cupp and shay's in decent shape.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking - I WANT to go up there as soon as it opens, but it probably won't be worth it. I'll just keep an eye on the cams and conditions. November is looking to be a mild month for the first half and sort of up and down for the second. Dammit November. I had such high hopes for you.

There's a lot of potential for this winter to be great...but there is also room for a mega failure. This pattern needs to shape up and stop this big warm up, small cool down, big warm up, small cool down bullshit.
