Fairfax Va. Gonna get up at 6 and make the haul up so I can be first on the hopefully fresh snow. If you're looking for a bro to board with, I'll be in a crazy ass pixelated DC jacket.
I just got back from New York where me and my Fiancee (who goes to law school up there) hit Toggenburg mountain and had our first East Coast powder experience. Six inches of powder fell on Toggenburg over night and we were first on the slopes the next morning.

From what I gather, Liberty is going to get hit the hardest of the two Southern Pa. places.
If tomorrow allows, I'll try to hit up whitetail. Only reason I wussed out today is because icy 2 lane twistes are NO bueno on my tires. Not even gonna try that experiment.
Point taken. I Just don't care for Liberty's trails. Too short, and the back side is like one big run but divided into eight small sections. Haven't been to WTail, so I think I'll try it out.
Tail has overall better or just faster runs/lifts. Park, in a way, is better too and has a decent lift instead of that nut-stick and only on the crappy half.
Sigh, pretty much. Also, I personally don't care if they "groom" @ WT because that place NEVER had the real kinda groomed snow I saw @ Belleayre NY. Their snow was super compacted and sorta smoothed out, plus it was much much colder than we ever get here. Fun mountain up there, but way too skier/family-oriented.
Roundtop was a bitch getting out of last night. Not because of the snow, but because soccer moms should just stay at home when it snows and now bring their shitty van out and go 10 miles an hour.
so damn true. it was a complete mess....the road most use (turning right when leaving)was closed for a while. people need to stay the hell home if they can't drive in it!
Tail was alright today- too damn bumpy to enjoy that fresh, sticky snow. Else 16:-14 worked quite well for me and I dialed in my flow bindings to hold solid and be actually easy on/off.
Blue Knob on sunday with hopefully a nice flock of friends.
Thought it was odd how the double blacks were groomed, but the single blacks were left in that bumpy powder ride. I got there at 8:30 a.m. to be one of the first people up and it was still a bumpy mess, but it was fun.
You were right. Tail kills Liberty.
Had a blast messing around in the smaller park. I'm new to park riding and I'm fine on kickers and have started to try indy grabs and 180s off them, but having a park with smaller rails to learn jibbing was really nice.
Headed to NY in a week for more boarding. Can't wait.
It's pretty easy to find me on a hill. Head to the harder slopes and look for the guy carving and hopping around on the bumps/mogul jumps in this jacket.
100 percent guarantee I'm the only one wearing it.
Wonder if I've seen you there today... or vice versa. I stuck to the main intermediates for the most part since snow was kinda shitty, didn't feel like doing diamonds too much.
I hung out on the blues alot and a few of the diamonds. Near the end of the day I spent most of my time chilling in the mini park hitting the kickers hard and then working on 50-50s and boardslides.
A few of the trails were just junk because the powder got so ripped up it got sloppy and just wasn't fun. It was like get some speed, start to carve, then hit some huge powder bumps and slow down. Repeat all the way down. Wasn't fluid at all -- but still better than ice pack.
Lol amen. On a side note, waxing- is dry rubbing some skate wax ok or do I HAVE to go the extra miles of buying board wax or doing the whole heated application jazz?
Rub on wax goes off as easily as it rubs on. Just do a heated wax every three to four rides -- two if you're doing a ton of jibbing. That's my rule I follow. I'm sure there's more knowledgeable tuning ppl here that can better answer it.
Only reason I asked was because I don't YET feel like getting some crappy iron and doing that whole jazz. Knowing me, I will sooner than later, but yea. My old board, was NEVER ever waxed since I got it and it lived through 2 of my seasons + god knows how many before me just fine.
You can get an iron, scraper, and some wax for about 50 bucks total. Not that much because it's a one time investment, plus you can wax your buddies boards too. Check out the tips section of this form, and there's a sticky of one of the moderator's how to videos for waxing. It really is worth it.
Blue Knob is just my word of mouth lol, but I mentioned it in a few posts on the past page or two. I pointed you here just in general, to chat with us locals a bit more.
