I went up there last Saturday and I was surprised that the conditions were much better than I expected. I rode from around 12:30 to 5:45 and it really didn't get icy until after dark.

They had the upper-right side open if you were looking at a trail map - Easy Out, Vista, Come Around Park, Upper and Lower Main St, Midway, and the Chute. They opened Lazy Mile up last Sunday too. The park had a few rails and jibs and 1 jump, I think maybe 8 features total.

They had Vista, Burma and Main St chairs open. If you feel comfortable on blacks then skip Vista, it was super slow and had a large line, and go on to down to Burma/Main St lift. There was a minimal line at the lower lifts and the mountain really was not very crowded at all.

Hmm... I would give them a call tonight and see what trails they plan on opening up tomorrow. They did have the bunny hill open last week too and Easy Out to Vista were the only green runs open. If they open Lazy Mile (a blue) you may want to check that out. I remember it as a wide, gentle trail, but it has been 3-4 years since I've rode it...

Your son should like the features in Come Around, they are beginner oriented right now. Didn't you go to Big Boulder recently? There are fewer features at Blue but they are equal to the easier features Boulder had, either ride-on or you could come at them straight with a slight hop on.

Yes was at big boulder. Practicing my falls sliding in ice
Hoping to fall a little more gracefully and with a little more style. Also hoping for a smaller crowd

Default LarryT...

If I were beginning/learning I would be more prone to visit JackFrost than any other of the local mountains. I find the beginner slopes to be a little wider and more forgiving than Blue and BigBoulder and a bit less crowded as well.

I thought JF was opening Fri/Sat this weekend...shows 9 trails on the site. Might be worth making a call up there to see. I'll be up there in a few weeks when they have more coverage.

Called Jf they were open, but since kid never went to blue mountain, we decided to go there anyway

we used one of his ski pa coupons (that is the greatest deal). 30 dollars for 3 lift tickets for almost all PA resorts for 4th and 5th graders.

Yea the park was not the best for him. The stuff was a bit on big side For him. He still had a blast, one of his buddies came with him and they did the black diamonds. I even drew up courage to do lazy mile and didn't fall once

I did have some epic falls elsewhere during the day. We were there till almost 6p

Really slowed down later, gave me some time to work on technique.

I hit blue yesterday, conditions were awesome & snow came in at about 2pm and made the conditions better. Lazy mile & berma/mainstreet lift was not bad at all but all the damn blue mountain race teams were annoying...
