Default VA Boarders

Anyone on here from VA? Where do you ride normally? It would be nice to try and set up some sort of carpool if any of you guys are around the NOVA/Fredericksburg/Richmond area. I'm in Fredericksburg which puts me about 2hrs from wintergreen and Massanutten and 4 hrs from Snowshoe.

Was up at Snowshoe opening week and it was pretty good coverage for early in the season and went to wintergreen a couple days ago which wasn't much to brag about.

Hey, I'm in Fairfax. Getting a night card and will be hitting Whitetail and Liberty as much as I can. Just hit Whitetail Fri evening for my first time out this year and it was pretty good...thinking about going back this afternoon.

Might be up for Massanutten or WG also this year. Haven't been to Mass for years. WG is one of the only resorts in the area I've never even tried before. Also can't wait to get back up to Snowshoe, haven't been for a couple years--had to have knee surgery year before last and missed a whole season. I didn't ride much last year, but did get out to Utah for a week.

It used to take us about 3.5 hours to Snowshoe from here, but I'm not sure if they've done any more improvements to that new highway up in WV to shave more time off the trip.

Alexandria, old town. I've been up to liberty and whitetail this season. I have the advantage card so I'm down to drive up.

I'm getting a night pass with advantage card, so I'll be trying to hit Whitetail or Liberty once or twice a week. Looking at heading up Fri afternoon and maybe Sun also. Let me know if anybody needs a ride or wants to meet up and ride together or whatever.

I also want to hit Snowshoe sometime in the next couple weeks after they get dumped on a bit more. I've got room for a couple people in my truck if anybody needs a ride. Just ask for a little throw down on fuel--it's about $140-150 in fuel roundtrip from/to NOva. It really turns out to be an expensive day trip by myself, so having some peeps to help out on the fuel makes a huge difference. Planning on watching the weather and cruising on up there as soon as they have a foot or more of snow in the forecast. I've done the trip in about 4 hours on mostly snow covered roads, but it depends how many non-snow driving people you get stuck behind. Leave around 4 to 4:30 and on the slopes at 9. Oh, and it seems they're offering mid-week tix pretty cheap on liftopia for a lot of dates this year.

I'm heading to Snowshoe for a week at the end of the month and am down to do a day trip or two as well. I have a season pass at Massanutten but am down to go up to whitetail/Liberty. I haven't been there in years... During the week is tough for me with work but can go anytime on the weekends. If we get a good dump I can always take a sick day or work might be closed.

I could probably do snowshoe on a weekend as long as it is not a holiday weekend. Usually it is not bad on Western Territory, which is where we tend to stay most of the time anyway. Seems like you really just have to avoid ballhooter, but that is hard unless you take the bus back over to the lot. Ballhooter can ruin your day, I've waited in line for up to half an hour or more there on a weekend. There's usually not much of a line on western express and it moves real fast if there is.

I work for myself, but it is still hard to go during the week a lot of the time. I can usually do half a day on Friday or take a full day every so often. It looks like things are going to be a little slow next month, so I am going to be able to ride more then. Definitely down to go if everything gets shut down from snow.

Anyone watching this storm coming in tonight/early tomorrow morning? NOAA is saying 3-6, CWG seems to be agreeing with the call for at least 4 inches across the DC area...with 6+ at the PA border and 8 over at Snowshoe. CWG says a ratio of 12 or 15:1, powder!

Trying to decide my power move for tomorrow...but I really need the government to close.

Yeah, been watching it. Just upgraded to a warning from a watch for the area. Looking like about 6" to 7" at Whitetail and Liberty by tomorrow evening. Thinking about heading to one or the other tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Seems like Snowshoe is only expecting about the same on what I checked. High winds and bitter cold expected to move in with the storm and remain for the rest of the week. Waiting for them to get a better dump before I drive up there.

Yeah the forecast is looking good. I'm thinking whitetail tomorrow, and with the (hopefully) lack of crowds, we may have some actual pow to ride by early afternoon.

I'll be up at Whitetail by about by about 3 or 4, maybe earlier if forecast changes. Heaviest snow expected late afternoon into evening hours. Up to 1-2" per hour and potentially some thundersnow. Just saw a map showing a decent possibility for 6-12" around hagerstown area. Going to be some good night boarding on real snow up there for once.
